"Almuerzo Gratis,"
Verso de hoy:
Todo el que tenga sed, venga a las aguas; y ustedes que no tienen dinero, vengan, compren y coman! Ven, compra vino y leche sin dinero y sin precio. ¿Por qué gastan su dinero en lo que no es pan y su trabajo en lo que no satisface? Escúchenme atentamente, coman lo bueno y deleítense con manjares ricos. - Isaías 55: 1-2
Trabajando todos los días como Oficial de Correccionales trato de prepararme física y emocionalmente para cualquier situación. En mi trabajo, cualquier cosa puede salir mal en cualquier momento. Pero a veces suceden cosas sutiles a simple vista que de otra manera parecerían estar bien. Como un preso que quiere hacerle un regalo a un guardia. Puede parecer inocuo a primera vista. Sin embargo, a menudo este tipo de acciones por parte de los reclusos tienen malos motivos y estamos entrenados para no aceptar ningún regalo. Creo en el dicho de que no existe el almuerzo gratis y siempre desconfío de tal situación. En el pasaje anterior, Dios nos ofrece gratuitamente muchos dones diferentes. En el Nuevo Testamento, Jesús dijo que Él es el pan de vida y ofrece gratuitamente a quien viene a Él, nunca más tendrá sed o hambre (Juan 6). Cuando Dios nos ofrece algo, no dude de cuáles son los motivos de Dios, ni piense que puede haber algún truco. Dios quiere lo mejor para nosotros y todo lo que tenemos que hacer es aceptar su ofrenda y estar agradecidos por todo lo que ha hecho por nosotros. - Comentario de Mark Natividad

Nuestro Padre Celestial, perdóname por perder el tiempo buscando cosas que no traen gozo, felicidad o paz duraderos. Señor, de ahora en adelante, te buscaré a ti y a tu reino y aceptaré lo que me ofreces gratuitamente. En el nombre de Jesús, Amén.
"Free Lunch,"
Today’s Verse:
Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you that have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. - Isaiah 55:1-2
Working every day as a Corrections Officer I try to prepare myself physically and emotionally for any situation. In my job, anything could go wrong at any time. But sometimes subtle things happen in plain sight that would otherwise seem fine. Like an inmate wanting to give a gift to a guard. It might seem innocuous at first glance. However, often these sort of actions from inmates have bad motives behind them, and we are trained not to accept any gifts. I believe in the saying that there’s no such thing as a free lunch and I am always wary of any such situation. In the above passage, God freely offers us many different gifts. In the New Testament, Jesus said that He is the bread of life and freely offers whoever comes to Him will never go thirsty or hungry again (John 6). When God offers us something, do not doubt what God’s motives are, or think that there might be some sort of catch. God wants the best for us and all we need to do is accept His offering and be grateful for all that He has done for us. - Commentary by Mark Natividad

Our Heavenly Father, forgive me for wasting my time by seeking things that do not bring lasting joy, happiness, or peace. Lord, from now on, I will seek You and Your kingdom and accept what You are freely offering to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
