 Todos queremos tener un lugar al que podamos ir que esté a salvo de peligros y problemas.  El deseo de buscar un refugio como este está muy dentro de cada uno de nuestros corazones y aunque no nos guste admitirlo ante nosotros mismos, esa necesidad siempre estará ahí.  La buena noticia es que realmente no tenemos que buscar muy lejos para encontrar refugio.  Ni siquiera es tan difícil pedirlo.  Cuando David escribió este Salmo, no sabía lo que significaría para nosotros hoy.  Escribió este salmo porque necesitaba desesperadamente fuerzas.  La encontró comprometiéndose con un Dios fiel y gracias a este compromiso encontró gozo.  Cuando aceptamos nuestro deseo de encontrar refugio en nuestras vidas, lo hacemos a través de nuestro Señor.  Él es nuestro refugio y fuerza innegable.  - Comentario de: Matthew J. We all want to have a place where we can go that is safe from danger and trouble. The desire to seek refuge like this is deep within each of our hearts and while we may not like to admit it to ourselves, that need will always be there. The good news is that we don’t really have to look very far to find refuge.  It’s not even all that hard to ask for it. When David wrote this Psalm, he didn’t know what it would mean for us today. He wrote this psalm because he was in dire need of strength. He found it by committing himself to a faithful God and because of this commitment he found joy. When we embrace our desire to find refuge in our lives, we do so through our Lord. He, is our refuge and undeniable strength.  - Commentary by: Matthew J. Elliott

Father God, in You I find strength and I know that I need that strength in the brokenness of the world around me. Teach me as you taught David to commit my spirit to You daily. Amen.

How do you describe your relationship with God? Do you call unto Him regularly or only pray in times of need and emergency? A close friend of mine likes to post a lot on social media and it’s often about his most recent drinking outings. Then something in his life goes wrong and for a time he refocuses his life on God. We often have long conversations about what he is struggling with. But after everything starts to go well again he’s back out drinking and partying with his friends. It’s a predictable cycle that’s gone on for years. I pray that he begins to take his relationship with God more seriously. So are we content with a casual relationship with God only inviting Him into our lives when things get tough? Or are we ready to get serious and take conscious steps to have a deeper relationship with our Creator? It is never too late to change and take those extra steps for He is always there waiting for us to come to Him. - Commentary by Mark Natividad

Do you find it harder to resist certain temptations and avoid certain sins? Is it a struggle to fight these temptations and keep on God’s path? Do you know that Jesus knows exactly what you are going through and desires to show you compassion rather than condemnation? He knows what you’re going through because He too was tempted in the wilderness. Satan came at Him with “every test.” Just because Jesus resisted and remained sinless does not mean that He felt no struggle between what His human body wanted and what was right. Jesus can sympathize with our weaknesses because He has been there. He wants to empower you to overcome temptation and not condemn you for struggling. Continue fighting the good fight of faith.  Pero el Señor le respondió: “Marta, Marta, estás preocupada y distraída por muchas cosas;  hay necesidad de una sola cosa.  María ha elegido la mejor parte, que no le será quitada ”.  - Lucas 10: 41-42

 Marta y María eran amigas de Jesús y estaban emocionadas de darle la bienvenida a su casa durante Sus viajes (vs 38).  Sin embargo, Martha se molestó porque estaba cocinando y sirviendo sola.  Cuando le pidió a Jesús que corrigiera a su hermana María por no ayudarla, se sintió frustrada por tener que hacer todo.  Probablemente también deseaba poder dejarlo todo y unirse a ella a los pies de Jesús.  Lo que Jesús le dice a Marta en respuesta es que todos debemos poner a Dios primero.  Sí, es necesario hacer la cocina, la limpieza y las tareas del hogar, pero Dios debe ser nuestra prioridad número uno.  Jesús está diciendo que no dejemos que las cosas mundanas se interpongan entre nosotros y Dios, que nos causen ansiedad o distracción.  No se pierda una relación amorosa con Dios que también necesita nuestra atención.  Encuentre tiempo todos los días para ir ante Jesús en adoración y acción de gracias.  ¡Elige la mejor parte de la vida!  - Comentario de Colleen Mallette

"At Jesus’ Feet,"

Today’s Verse:

But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.” - Luke 10:41-42

Martha and Mary were friends of Jesus and were excited to welcome Him into their home during His travels (vs 38). However, Martha got upset that she was doing all the cooking and serving by herself. When she asked Jesus to correct her sister Mary for not helping her, she was frustrated at having to do everything. She probably also wished she could just leave it all and go join her at the feet of Jesus. What Jesus tells Martha in reply is that all of us need to put God first. Yes, the cooking, cleaning, and chores all need to be done, but God should be our number one priority. Jesus is saying not to let worldly things get between us and God, cause us to be anxious, or distracted. Don’t miss out on a loving relationship with God that needs our attention as well. Find time every day to go before Jesus in adoration and thanksgiving. Choose the better part of life! - Commentary by Colleen Mallette

Every Christmas people decorate their homes with some type of Christmas tree. It can be a big one, a small one, a fake one, or a real one, but what we don’t really pay attention to is why we do it in the first place. There are many different theories about how the Christmas tree became part of our modern traditions but the one that I always liked best was that the tree was a symbol of hope and strength. In the midst of the darkness of winter, through blizzards, through harsh temperatures, and even being cut down they still retain their color. Through everything, this tree stands strong as a symbol of life. God does the same for us. No matter what we go through, He is our strength, and He is our help in troubled times. Telling The Truth: "Alone On Christmas"

And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. - Matthew 28:20

For those of you who are alone this Christmas because of the pandemic, be encouraged by the fact that you are never really alone; God sees and knows your strengths, weaknesses, and pain. If you start to feel down, here are a few things to try. Reach out to someone you know who is on their own as well. Find a safe, creative way to volunteer. Take part in a safely done church Christmas celebration. Don't hesitate to reach out to others, as they may be feeling like you, and be grateful for the call. Pray that God would provide someone for you to spend the holiday with. If you still find yourself alone on Christmas, accept it, and resolve yourself to make the best of it. Remember, you are never really alone, and do not allow yourself to think negatively. Reframe your thoughts and think positively like, "God is in control, I surrender to His will, and this year He wanted me all to Himself without worldly distractions." So today I'm going to focus on Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas. I'm going to spend the day praising and thanking God for the blessings I do have. We are always standing before God, He hears and sees us every second of our lives. He is present, and He is more than enough! Reach out to God in faith, celebrate with Him, and take this opportunity to grow in your relationship. It is Jesus' birthday, so focus on Him, talk to Him, and remember He is with you. He is the greatest company we can ever be with, so ask Him to strengthen and hold you in His arms. At first glance, this passage doesn't really strike you as a verse about Christmas does it? Well, it actually is. Jesus came in the form of a baby to sacrifice himself so that we could be saved. We often get so wrapped up in everything going on around us at this time of the year that we forget to remind ourselves and others what this season is really all about. As a family, we spent a good portion of our weekend decorating for Christmas. Truthfully, we really didn’t focus much on the true reason for the Christmas season, but we are making the time to do so now. It’s okay to have fun and get taken in by the joys of Christmas, but we also need to make time for the more important things as well. Don’t forget Jesus came to die so we might live. "God Is Forever,"

Today’s Verse:

The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever. - Isaiah 40:8

How many times do we say to ourselves, “I wish this moment would last forever.” Or “I wish I could freeze time and keep my kids this age forever.” Life is full of special moments that we anticipate with joy and hang on to. We do this both in the moment and afterward in our memories and with pictures. Those are important times to treasure, mostly because we know they are fleeting. Life is constantly changing and nothing lasts for long. Yet God promises that He and His Word will last forever. He is the only unchanging, constant force in existence in our world. We are so blessed to have His loving Scriptures to read anytime we want. Even if all the Bibles that exist were gone, His Word would live on in our hearts and minds. His promises would still exist. They have stood the test of time over all these hundreds of years and can be relied on. His love is forever and so is His offer of eternal salvation! - Commentary by Colleen Mallette

Sometimes my kids make me so angry and frustrated. Their whining and bickering get on my last nerve, and I feel like there’s nothing left to do but explode. However, if I start yelling or lose my temper it only serves to make matters worse. While you may feel that you can’t control your frustration any longer, the Bible says that this is foolish and it’s not hard to see why. The results of letting your emotions take over are usually harmful to you and others. The question is what do we do when anger starts to get to the boiling point? When you first start to feel the emotions rising, give yourself a time out and remove yourself from the situation. Take a moment alone to calm yourself down, then figure out an alternative way to deal with the situation without giving full vent to your anger. - Commentary by Traci Elliott

When things get crazy busy and you are multitasking all day it’s hard to take time to pray. When something is weighing heavily on your mind and heart, and you can’t get anything done because of worrying, it can be hard to remember to pray. But this beautiful short verse from Isaiah tells us to keep our minds on God always. For if we do, it shows we trust in Him to handle all our worries, and in response, God grants us peace. It is not just any peace, but perfect peace. He may not take away what is bothering us or complete our tasks, but a simple prayer in the midst of life's stresses can often result in a sudden solution to a problem you hadn’t thought of before. You might get the image of someone who’s been in this situation and may be of help. You may come to the realization that not all the things you are trying to accomplish need to get done by tonight.  Ser padre puede ser uno de los mayores desafíos de la vida, y una de las tareas más difíciles que tengo que afrontar es cuando mis hijos se pelean entre sí.  Tengo que intervenir y averiguar qué pasó exactamente.  Mi prioridad es que quiero que mis hijos sepan que estoy tratando de ser justo y no tener favoritos.  A veces, un simple desacuerdo se convierte en una larga discusión porque ninguno de los niños quiere admitir su culpa.  Estas discusiones enfurecerían a mi esposa porque nada la enoja más que cuando los niños mienten e inventan historias que cubren lo que hicieron.  Siempre les decimos a nuestros hijos: "Solo dinos la verdad y lo resolveremos, aceptaremos y perdonaremos".  Creo que ser padre nos ayuda a reconocer lo que Dios quiere para nosotros.  Si solo confesamos nuestros pecados, Él nos perdonará y nos ayudará.  Así que no nos comportemos como niños traviesos, sino que crezcamos, digamos la verdad y confesemos nuestros pecados a Dios.  - Comentario de Mark Natividad

Being a parent can be one of life’s biggest challenges, and one of the most difficult tasks I have to face is when my kids fight with each other. I have to step in and find out what exactly happened. My priority is that I want my kids to know that I am trying to be fair and play no favorites. Sometimes a simple disagreement becomes a long discussion because neither child wants to admit their guilt. These discussions would infuriate my wife because nothing makes her angrier than when the kids lie and make up stories that cover up what they did. We always tell our kids, “Just tell us the truth, and we will work it out, accept and forgive.” I think being a parent helps us to recognize what God wants for us. If we only confess our sins He will forgive us and help us. So let us not behave like naughty children but rather grow up, tell the truth, and confess our sins to God. - Commentary by Mark Natividad

Tell God how well He took care of a situation or what a wondrous job He did creating everything. Write a poem, tell someone else how great God is, or just take some of your prayer time to thank Him.  Cada Navidad, se escriben cartas a Santa.  Cada escritor está lleno de anticipación ante la perspectiva de que se les dé todo lo que piden.  Esto es similar a cómo todos ponemos nuestras peticiones ante nuestro Padre Celestial.  Sin embargo, a diferencia de Santa Claus, Dios no solo está mirando nuestras buenas obras, sino el bien mayor de cada petición que se le presenta.  A veces podemos estar preguntando repetidamente sin respuesta de Dios, por lo que necesitamos reflexionar.  Si Dios concediera nuestras peticiones, ¿lo usaríamos para glorificar Su nombre o para nuestra propia ambición egoísta?  Si nuestra petición es para la gloria del Señor, debemos continuar aferrándonos a ella como nunca antes, con el entendimiento de que Dios obra para el bien de quienes lo aman.  Ejemplos como Ana, el padre Abraham y Sara nos enseñan que aunque nuestras oraciones pueden no ser respondidas al principio, ¡el tiempo señalado por Dios es el mejor!  - Comentario de Etohan Akpan

Every Christmas, letters are written to Santa. Each writer is filled with anticipation at the prospect of all they ask being given to them. This is similar to how we all lay our requests before our Heavenly Father. Yet, unlike Santa Claus, God is not looking at our good deeds alone, He is looking at the greater good of every request brought before Him. Sometimes we may be asking repeatedly with no response from God and so we need to reflect. If God was to grant our requests, would we use it to glorify His name or for our own selfish ambition? If our request is for the glory of the Lord, we should continue to hold on to it like never before, with the understanding that God works for the good of those who love Him. Examples like Hannah, Father Abraham, and Sarah, teach us that although our prayers may not be answered at first, God’s appointed time is the best! - Commentary by Etohan Akpan

Jesus begins to work to change us from the “perishable” child we once were to the “imperishable” vessel of light we are meant to be. The word of God finds a place in our hearts and can change us completely. The result is always something better than what we were on day one.  Este versículo parece bastante sencillo.  No es tan difícil ver por qué tenemos que obedecer la ley en su mayor parte.  Pero, ¿qué pasa cuando realmente no nos gusta nuestra autoridad gobernante o pensamos que son francamente horribles?  Bueno, Pablo no escribió este versículo durante una época de gran liderazgo.  Los romanos estaban persiguiendo severamente a los cristianos durante este tiempo e hicieron muchas otras cosas malas.  El punto sigue siendo, nos gusten o no nuestros gobernantes, Dios ha permitido que esa persona llegue al poder con un propósito, y mientras no nos exija ir en contra de la ley de Dios, debemos obedecerlos.  Concéntrese en el hecho de que Dios está en Su trono, Él tiene el control, tenga fe y confíe en que Él tiene un plan.  - Comentario de Traci Elliott

Today’s Verse:

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities; for there is no authority except from God, and those authorities that exist have been instituted by God.  - Romans 13:1

This verse seems pretty straightforward. It’s not that hard to see why we need to obey the law for the most part. But what about when we really don’t like our governing authority or we think they’re just downright awful? Well, Paul didn’t write this verse during a time of great leadership. The Romans were severely persecuting the Christians during this time and did many other evil things. The point remains, whether we like our rulers or not, God has allowed that person into power for a purpose, and as long as it doesn’t require us to go against God’s law, we need to obey them. Focus on the fact that God is on His throne, He is in control, have faith, and trust that He has a plan. - Commentary by Traci Elliott

Why would someone want to be around you or even consider attending your church? Most likely because they think you are a good and kind person. We all want to be around nice people who treat us with kindness. So if you want others to follow you, be considerate, accommodating, giving, and loving. Be the voice and hands of Christ to others today. Follow His example of how to love in the New Testament. It’s up to us to spread God’s love through our everyday kindness. Whether it’s in our home, at our workplace, in our community, or with a stranger in the store, we need to care for others like Christ would. I am reminded of the hymn called - “They will know we are Christians by our love, by our love.” - Commentary by Colleen Mallette

 Entonces Dios dijo: “Hágase la luz”;  y hubo luz.  - Génesis 1: 3

 Una simple expresión fue todo lo que necesitó Dios para traer luz a este mundo.  Cuatro simples palabras.  Esta es una doble revelación.  Primero, Dios puede traer Su luz a cada aspecto de nuestra vida si nos sometemos a Él y caminamos de acuerdo a Sus caminos.  Recuerde, Dios solo usó cuatro palabras para revolucionar el mundo, por lo que no le tomará mucho tiempo traer luz a ninguna situación oscura en nuestras vidas.  Una vez que hayamos recibido Su luz, debemos permitir que se irradie para que todos los que nos rodean la vean y se beneficien.  En segundo lugar, recuerde siempre que las palabras que usamos afectan nuestras situaciones y la oración es poderosa.  Necesitamos guardar cuidadosamente nuestra lengua para asegurarnos de que siempre estemos hablando positivamente sin importar las tempestades en la vida que enfrentemos.  Estamos hechos a imagen del Señor y nuestras palabras deben reflejar las de nuestro Padre Celestial.  Comentario de: Etohan Akpan

A simple utterance was all it took for God to bring light to this world. Four simple words. This is a twofold revelation. First, God is able to bring His light into every aspect of our lives if we submit to Him and walk according to His ways. Remember, God only used four words to revolutionize the world, so it will not take Him a long time to bring light into any dark situation in our lives. Once we have received His light, we should allow it to radiate for everyone around us to see and benefit. Second, always remember the words we use affect our situations and prayer is powerful. We need to carefully guard our tongues to ensure we are always speaking positively regardless of the tempests in life that we face. Cuando era joven, la gente mayor decía que la vida es corta y el tiempo pasa rápido.  Debería prestar mucha atención en la escuela y concentrarme en estudiar.  Pero en segundo grado, el tiempo era lento porque nuestro consejero de clase era desagradable y fue mi introducción a ser intimidado por otros niños.  Ese año escolar no fue agradable porque quería que terminaran las clases y llegara el verano.  Ahora que soy un adulto, puedo dar fe de que el tiempo pasa rápido.  Pronto cumpliré cuarenta y este versículo me recuerda que evalúe mi vida.  Moisés escribió este salmo mientras vivía hasta los ciento veinte años.  Pasó sus primeros cuarenta años en Egipto como hijo de la hija del faraón, otros cuarenta en Madián después de que mató a un amo de esclavos egipcio, y los últimos cuarenta conduciendo a los hebreos por el desierto a la Tierra Prometida.  Entonces, ¿estamos usando nuestro tiempo con prudencia o simplemente lo estamos perdiendo?  Cuenta tus días y ten cuidado con cómo los vivimos.  Vivamos sabiamente y busquemos siempre hacer la voluntad de Dios, seamos amorosos y demos buenos frutos para Dios.  - Comentario de Mark Natividad

When I was young, older folks would say that life is short and time flies by fast. I should pay close attention in school and focus on studying. But back in second grade, time was slow because our class adviser was unlikable and it was my introduction to being bullied by other kids. That school year wasn’t enjoyable as I wanted classes to be over and summer to arrive. Now I'm an adult, I can attest that time does get by fast. I’ll be forty soon, and this verse reminds me to evaluate my life. Moses wrote this psalm while he lived to one-hundred twenty years old. He spent his first forty years in Egypt as the son of the pharaoh's daughter, another forty in Midian after he killed an Egyptian slave-master, and the last forty leading the Hebrews in the wilderness to the Promised Land. So are we using our time prudently or just wasting our time? Count your days and be careful about how we live them. Let us live wisely, and always seek to do God's will, be loving, and bear good fruit for God. - Commentary by Mark Natividad

Acts 17 is one of those chapters you have to read all the way through to truly grasp, but the message is clear and refers to God. “For in Him we live and move and exist.” Our purpose in seeking God is not about making a deal or even listening to the message because we have to; it is about living a life that represents who we are in Christ. It’s about learning as much as we can about that identity so we can fully embrace it. Paul’s message here is a reminder that we belong to God, not as idol worshippers, but as life-changing members of His family.  En esto está el amor, no porque amáramos a Dios, sino que él nos amó y envió a su Hijo para ser el sacrificio expiatorio por nuestros pecados.  - 1 Juan 4:10

 Nadie puede superar el gran amor que Dios nos ha demostrado.  Es amor sacrificial porque dio a Su único hijo para pagar el precio por nuestros pecados.  El versículo dice que no es porque amamos a Dios que Él nos salvó;  Lo hizo porque nos amaba mucho.  Nos recuerda que debemos amar a Dios aún más.  En las Escrituras se manda amar a Dios con todo nuestro corazón.  Desde que hemos experimentado el amor más grande que Dios nos demostró, hemos aprendido a amar y podemos amar a los demás como Dios nos amó a nosotros.  Si confiamos en nuestra capacidad de amar, no podemos hacerlo.  Pero Dios derramó Su amor hacia nosotros para que podamos derramar Su amor a los demás.  Comentario de: Jeremy B. No one can surpass the great love that God has demonstrated for us. It is sacrificial love because He gave His only begotten son to pay the price for our sins. The verse says it is not because we love God that He saved us; He did it because He loved us so much. It reminds us that we should love God even more. It is commanded in the scriptures to love God with all our hearts. Since we have experienced the greatest love that God demonstrated to us, we have learned how to love, and we can love others the way God loved us. If we rely on our capacity to love, we cannot do it. Así también la lengua es un miembro pequeño, pero se jacta de grandes hazañas.  ¡Qué gran bosque se incendia con un pequeño fuego!  Y la lengua es un fuego.  La lengua se coloca entre nuestros miembros como un mundo de iniquidad;  mancha todo el cuerpo, prende fuego al ciclo de la naturaleza y él mismo arde en el infierno.  - Santiago 3: 5-6
Un filipino que dice que haré todo lo posible para traducir es: "Es mejor que te roben que quemar tu casa".  Por segunda vez este año, se produjo un incendio en la misma calle de mi ciudad natal, dejando sin hogar a cuarenta familias.  La causa del último incendio aún no se ha determinado, pero el incendio anterior fue causado por una sola vela desatendida.  Como una vela, nuestra lengua puede prender fuego a la gente causando conflictos, disputas y disensiones.  Personalmente he sido testigo de cómo rompía amistades de toda la vida.  Puede destruir la carrera de una persona que ha trabajado duro durante años porque no pudo contener la lengua durante un momento de ira.  El apóstol Santiago nos advierte sobre esto y es por eso que debemos esforzarnos y esforzarnos en domar la lengua.  Recuerde que podemos usarlo para bendecir y animar, o maldecir y herir sin cuidado a otros.  - Comentario de Mark Natividad

The tongue is placed among our members as a world of iniquity; it stains the whole body, sets on fire the cycle of nature, and is itself on fire by hell. - James 3:5-6
A Filipino saying that I will try my best to translate is, “It’s better to be robbed than to have your house burn down.” For the second time this year, a fire broke out on the same street in my hometown, leaving forty families homeless. The cause of the latest fire is still to be determined but the previous fire was caused by a single unattended candle. Like a candle, our tongue can set ablaze people by causing strife, quarrels, and dissension. I have personally witnessed it severing lifelong friendships. It can destroy a person’s career who has worked hard for years because they were not able to hold their tongue during a moment of anger. Apostle James warns us about this and is why we should exert and put much effort into taming the tongue. Remember that we can use it to bless and encourage, or carelessly curse and hurt others. - Commentary by Mark Natividad

 Dios está siempre con nosotros.  Todos tenemos nuestros momentos de duda y este momento en la vida de David no es muy diferente a muchos de los momentos que tenemos en nuestras vidas hoy.  Aquí, David ha visto el quebrantamiento del mundo que lo rodea y le ruega a Dios que los libere a pesar de la realidad del mundo.  Es lo mismo en nuestro mundo de hoy, y este Salmo resuena profundamente.  Dios ve esto y anhela que lo abracemos en medio de nuestras propias luchas y debilidades.  Sin embargo, la pregunta sigue siendo: ¿hay quienes buscarán la sabiduría de Dios?  Dé la bienvenida hoy a la oportunidad de buscar la sabiduría de Dios en su vida.  ¿Hay algo que impide que se reparen sus heridas y sus roturas?  Buscar la presencia de Dios en tu vida puede ser el remedio.  - Comentario de: Matthew J. Today’s Verse:

The Lord looks down from heaven on humankind to see if there are any who are wise, who seek after God. - Psalm 14:2

God is always with us. We all have our moments of doubt and this moment in David’s life is not too dissimilar to many of the moments that we have in our lives today. Here, David has seen the brokenness of the world around him and is pleading with God to deliver them in spite of the reality of the world. It is the same in our world today, and this Psalm resonates soundly. God sees this and longs for us to embrace Him in the midst of our own struggles and weaknesses. The question remains though, are there those who will seek God’s wisdom? Welcome the opportunity today to seek God’s wisdom in your life.  El que en muy poco es fiel, también en mucho es fiel;  y el que es deshonesto en muy poco, también en mucho es deshonesto.  - Lucas 16:10

 Hay momentos en la vida de muchos creyentes en los que la pasión que alguna vez sintieron al seguir al Señor no es fuerte.  Los "sentimientos" se han ido y nos quedamos en una especie de zona muerta.  En esos tiempos es fácil sentirse lejos de Dios y preguntarse qué salió mal.  Este es un sentimiento normal en cualquier relación.  La pregunta es, ¿qué hacemos durante este tiempo para preservar nuestra fe y mantener el rumbo?  Primero que nada, no te rindas y no pienses que Dios te ha dejado.  Lo mejor que creo que podemos hacer es simplemente permanecer fieles.  Incluso si siente que sus oraciones golpean el techo, siga orando.  Incluso si parece que no puedes sacar nada de las Escrituras, sigue leyendo.  La luz de Dios vendrá y siempre estará cerca.  - Comentario de: Traci Elliott

There are times in many believer's lives when the passion they once felt in following the Lord is not strong. The “feelings” are gone and we’re left in a sort of dead zone. It is easy in those times to feel far away from God and wonder what went wrong. This is a normal feeling in any relationship. The question is, what do we do during this time to preserve our faith and stay on track? First off, don’t give up and do not think that God has left you. The best thing that I think we can do is simply to remain faithful. Even if you feel like your prayers hit the ceiling, keep praying. Even if you can’t seem to get anything out of scripture, keep reading. God’s light will come and He will always be near. - Commentary by: Traci Elliott

"Pure Wisdom,"/"Pura Sabiduría,"

"Pura Sabiduría,"

Verso de hoy:

 Pero la sabiduría de arriba es primero pura, luego pacífica, amable, dispuesta a ceder, llena de misericordia y buenos frutos, sin rastro de parcialidad o hipocresía.  Y la cosecha de la justicia se siembra en paz para los que hacen la paz.  - Santiago 3: 17-18

 Este versículo nos ayuda a ver el tipo de sabiduría que no proviene de Dios y la sabiduría que proviene de Dios.  El versículo simplemente enumera las características del tipo de sabiduría que proviene de Dios.  No debemos dejarnos engañar por aquellos que afirman que su sabiduría proviene de Dios y, sin embargo, carece de paz, mansedumbre, misericordia, sumisión, buenos frutos y está llena de hipocresía.  La última parte del versículo nos dice que "la mies de justicia se siembra en paz".  Significa que la paz y las cosas buenas siempre saldrán cuando usemos la sabiduría que viene de Dios.  La sabiduría humana y mundana siempre resultará en conflictos y disensiones.  Esto nos recuerda que debemos identificar y utilizar la sabiduría que Dios nos ofrece y que solo podemos encontrar esa sabiduría en Sus Sagradas Escrituras y a través del Espíritu Santo.  Comentario de: Jeremy B.  Señor, gracias por recordarme que no debería buscar sabiduría en este mundo.  La sabiduría de este mundo solo resultaría en problemas y problemas.  Gracias por darnos las escrituras donde podemos encontrar sabiduría pura y piadosa cada vez que abrimos y estudiamos la Biblia.  Amén.

"Pure Wisdom,"

Today’s Verse: 

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace for those who make peace. - James 3:17-18

This verse helps us see the kind of wisdom that is not from God and the wisdom that is from God. The verse simply enumerates the characteristics of the kind of wisdom that is from God. We should not be deceived by those who claim that their wisdom is from God and yet it lacks peace, gentleness, mercy, submissiveness, good fruits, and is full of hypocrisy. The last part of the verse tells us that the “harvest of righteousness is sown in peace.” It means that peace and good things will always come out when we use the wisdom that is from God. Human and worldly wisdom will always result in conflict and dissensions. This reminds us that we should identify and utilize the wisdom that God is offering us and we can only find that wisdom in His Holy Scriptures and through the Holy Spirit. Commentary By: Jeremy B. Lord, thank you for reminding me that I should not seek wisdom from this world. The wisdom of this world would only result in troubles and problems. Thank you for giving us the scriptures where we can find pure and Godly wisdom every time we open and study the Bible. Amen.

 Yo soy la vid, ustedes son las ramas.  Los que permanecen en mí y yo en ellos dan mucho fruto, porque separados de mí no pueden hacer nada.  - Juan 15: 5

 ¿Alguna vez se preguntó por qué es tan importante tener tiempo para la oración y la devoción?  ¿Alguna vez se vuelve un poco tedioso?  A veces siento que no lo hago con la suficiente religión.  Es como si no leyera una cierta cantidad de páginas de mi Biblia todos los días, me deslizara espiritualmente.  Pero no creo que ese sea realmente el punto.  Cuando conecté mi computadora para escribir esto, tuve una idea.  Quizás el objetivo de un tiempo de devoción regular es conectarnos a nuestra fuente de energía.  Necesitamos ser revitalizados, animados, elevados y empoderados por Dios para salir adelante en esta vida y ser efectivos en hacer Su voluntad.  Si no nos recargamos, nos secaremos espiritualmente.  ¡Conéctese con Dios no porque crea que debe hacerlo, sino para obtener la conexión poderosa y las gracias que necesita!  - Comentario de Traci Elliott

Do you ever wonder why it’s so important to have time for prayer and devotion? Does it ever get a little tedious? Sometimes I feel that I don’t do it religiously enough. It‘s like if I don’t read a certain number of pages in my Bible every day I’m slipping spiritually. But I don’t think that’s really the point. As I plugged in my computer to write this, I had an idea. Maybe the point of a regular devotion time is to plug into our power source. We need to be re-energized, encouraged, uplifted, and empowered by God to make it through this life and to be effective in doing His will. If we don’t get recharged, we’ll dry up spiritually. Connect with God not because you think you have to but to gain the powerful connection and graces you need! - Commentary by Traci Elliott

 ¿Por qué, Señor, estás lejos?  ¿Por qué te escondes en tiempos de angustia?  - Salmo 10: 1

 Hay momentos en la vida de muchas personas en las que la tragedia, las dificultades o ver el mal en el mundo los enoja.  A veces esa ira se vuelve hacia Dios.  ¿Cómo pudo permitir esto?  Dios es bueno, entonces, ¿por qué suceden estas cosas?  Honestamente, no creo que expresar enojo sea algo malo mientras no pecamos cuando lo hacemos.  Dios es la verdad y no creo que nos culpe cuando somos honestos acerca de nuestros sentimientos.  El rey David en la Biblia a menudo presentaba sus quejas a Dios.  De hecho, muchos de ellos se convirtieron en Escritura, lo que vemos en los Salmos.  Entonces, la próxima vez que se sienta enojado por algo que ha sucedido, lléveselo a Dios.  Él puede manejar sus preguntas, pero tenga en cuenta que Él es su Padre y siempre debemos ser respetuosos.  Es mejor cuando se lo damos a Dios porque Él escucha y se preocupa;  Él puede reemplazar tu ira con paz.  - Comentario de: Traci Elliott

Why, O Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? - Psalm 10:1

There are times in many people’s lives when tragedy, hardship, or seeing the evil in the world makes them angry. Sometimes that anger gets turned towards God. How could He allow this? God is good, so why do these things happen? Honestly, I don’t think that expressing anger is a bad thing as long as we do not sin when we do it. God is truth and I don’t think He faults us when we are honest about our feelings. King David in the Bible often brought his complaints to God. In fact, many of them became scripture - what we see in the Psalms. So, the next time you feel angry about something that has happened, bring it to God. He can handle your questions, but keep in mind that He is your Father and we must always be respectful. It’s better when we give it to God because He listens and He cares; He can replace your anger with peace. - Commentary by: Traci Elliott
