 Cualquiera de ustedes que viva en un clima frío y frío sabe que hay momentos en que necesita "arrancar" su automóvil.  El frío agota la batería y, a veces, necesita un impulso adicional desde un inicio rápido para que pueda seguir su camino.  ¿Qué pasa con nuestras vidas piadosas?  Como cristianos, nosotros también necesitamos un "inicio rápido" de vez en cuando.  Es fácil volverse complaciente en nuestras vidas y deberes cristianos.  A menos que estemos inmersos en Su Palabra a diario, es probable que nosotros también necesitemos una recarga.  Sé que cuando he leído o estudiado la Palabra de Dios, salgo renovado y rejuvenecido.  Me vuelve a encaminar y me ayuda a concentrarme en cuál es su voluntad para mí.  Sé en mi corazón que quiero vida eterna con Él, pero a veces necesito un recordatorio para enfocarme, estudiar y vivir Su Palabra.  La Biblia no es como un libro favorito para poner en una estantería solo para sacarlo en ocasiones.  Debe estar al frente y al centro de nuestras vidas todos los días.  - Comentario de: Abigail Edgecott

"Jump Start,"

Today's Verse:

Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. - Isaiah 41:10

Any of you who live in a frigid, cold climate know there are times you need to “jump start” your car. The cold drains the battery and sometimes it needs that extra boost from a jump start to get you going on your way. What about our Godly lives? As Christians, we too need a “jump start” every so often. It is easy to become complacent in our Christian lives and duties. Unless we are immersed in His Word on a daily basis, chances are we too, are in need of a recharge. I know when I have read or studied God’s Word, I come away refreshed and rejuvenated. It puts me back on track and helps me focus on what His will is for me. I know in my heart I want eternal life with Him, but sometimes I need a reminder to focus, study, and live His Word. The Bible isn’t like a favorite book to be put on a bookshelf only to brought out on occasions. It should be front and center in our lives each and every day. - Commentary by: Abigail Edgecott

 Sea hospitalario el uno con el otro sin quejarse.  - 1 Pedro 4: 9

 Llamé a mi farmacia esta mañana para renovar una receta y cuando el farmacéutico contestó el teléfono, dijo con voz muy enojada: "¿Qué necesitas?"  Estaba frustrada con su tono de voz, y casi le dije algo, pero me tragué mi frustración y le dije con voz amigable lo que necesitaba.  Si esta hubiera sido la primera vez que esta persona en particular hubiera actuado así conmigo, podría haber pasado por alto que estaba teniendo un mal día.  Pero desafortunadamente, este no fue el caso.  Si me hubiera quejado de ella a la gerencia o hubiera estado enojado a cambio, habría sido tan culpable como ella, y como cristiano, lo sé mejor porque Dios quiere que nos demos amor y bondad el uno al otro.  Obtener un buen servicio al cliente hoy puede ser más una excepción que una regla.  Los días de los clientes siempre tienen la razón, incluso cuando están equivocados, ya no se practica en muchos lugares.  Es fácil enojarse y arremeter contra los demás, pero Dios espera que nosotros como cristianos seamos un ejemplo en nuestra conducta y nuestro diálogo con los demás.  Proverbios 15: 1 dice: "Una respuesta suave aparta la ira, pero una palabra dura aviva la ira".  Ya sea que estemos brindando servicio al cliente u obteniendo servicio al cliente, dejemos que nuestras acciones sean consistentes con lo que Dios espera de nosotros.  - Comentario de: Arial Merick

Today's Verse:

Be hospitable to one another without complaining. - 1 Peter 4:9

I called my Pharmacy this morning, to renew a prescription and when the Pharmacist answered the phone she said in a very angry voice, “what do you need?” I was frustrated with her tone of voice, and I almost said something to her but I swallowed my frustration and told her in a friendly voice what I needed. Had this been the first time this particular person had acted like this with me, I might have passed it off that she was having a bad day. But unfortunately, this was not the case. Had I complained about her to management or been angry in return I would have been just as guilty as she, and as a Christian, I know better because God wants us to show love and kindness to each other. Getting good customer service today can be more of an exception than it is the rule. The days of the customers are always right even when they’re wrong, is no longer practiced in many places. It is easy to be angered and to lash out at others but God expects us as Christians to be an example in our conduct and our dialogue with others. Proverbs 15:1 says: “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Whether we are giving customer service or getting customer service, let our actions be consistent with what God expects of us. - Commentary by: Arial Merick

Heavenly Father, help us to remember what being a Christian means when the actions and words of others are hurtful. Remind us to show love and compassion in all situations. Amen.

"El pasado,"

Verso de hoy:

 Pero cuando los israelitas se hicieron fuertes, pusieron a los cananeos a trabajos forzados, pero no los expulsaron por completo.  - Josué 17:13

 Cuando los israelitas estaban a punto de entrar en Canaán, la Tierra Prometida, Dios les ordenó limpiar y expulsar a los cananeos para que no fueran influenciados o siguieran la cultura de idolatría y adoración pagana.  Sin embargo, este versículo es solo uno de los muchos pasajes en la Santa Biblia que es evidencia de que no obedecieron completamente al Señor.  Más bien, a medida que los israelitas se establecieron y se fortalecieron, practicaron algo que se les presionó solo una generación antes.  Parecía que ya habían olvidado que habían sido esclavizados por los egipcios durante más de trescientos cincuenta años antes de entrar en Canaán.  Todos podemos estar de acuerdo en que el trabajo forzoso nunca está justificado y es malo para el núcleo.  Saca lo peor de las personas, ya sea con el esclavista o el esclavo y la historia nos lo demuestra.  Uno de los maestros dolorosos pero efectivos es nuestro pasado.  Pero no aprender de él es completamente tonto y pone en peligro el riesgo de repetirlo nuevamente.  La desobediencia siempre conduce a estos casos imprudentes que solo dejarán una cicatriz y un arrepentimiento más grandes que los anteriores.  En definitiva, no debemos temer al pasado, sino aprender y crecer a partir de él.  Son advertencias y banderas rojas que debemos evitar en el futuro.  - Comentario de: Mark Natividad

"The Past,"

Today's Verse:

But when the Isaraelites grew strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor, but did not utterly drive them out. - Joshua 17:13

When the Israelites were about to enter Canaan, the Promised Land, God commanded them to wipe and drive out the Canaanites so they would not be influenced or follow the culture of idolatry and pagan worship. However, this verse is just one of the many passages in the Holy Bible that is evidence they did not completely obey the Lord. Rather, as the Israelites settled in and grew strong, they practiced something that was pressed upon them just one generation before. It seemed they already forgot they had been enslaved by the Egyptians for more than three-hundred-fifty years before they entered Canaan. We can all agree that forced labor is never justified and it is evil to the core. It brings out the worst in people either with the slaver or slave and history proves this to us. One of the painful but effective teachers is our past. But not learning from it is utterly foolish and endangers the risk of repeating it again. Disobedience always leads to these imprudent instances that will only leave a bigger scar and regret than the previous ones. Ultimately, we should not fear the past but learn and grow from it. They are warnings and red flags for us to avoid in the future. - Commentary by: Mark Natividad

 Ha habido un debate en curso durante mucho tiempo sobre si un bebé nonato (feto) es realmente una persona y en qué etapa comienza la vida humana.  ¿Comienza en la concepción, el nacimiento o en algún punto intermedio?  ¿Tiene una mujer el derecho de abortar a su hijo nonato?  El Salmo 139: 13-16 dice: “Porque fuiste tú quien formó mis partes internas;  me unes en el vientre de mi madre.  Te alabo, porque estoy hecho con temor y maravillosamente.  Maravillosas son tus obras;  que yo se muy bien  Mi marco no estaba oculto para ti, cuando me hacían en secreto, intrincadamente tejido en las profundidades de la tierra.  Tus ojos vieron mi sustancia no formada.  En su libro fueron escritos todos los días que se formaron para mí, cuando ninguno de ellos todavía existía ".  Esas escrituras son poderosas y reveladoras.  ¡Un feto no es solo un grupo de células!  No tenemos la autoridad para quitarle la vida a otro.  Dios es el creador de toda la vida;  por lo tanto, solo Él tiene la autoridad para decidir cuándo comenzará o terminará la vida.  Animo a todos a estudiar su Biblia.  Tiene todas las respuestas para vivir una vida piadosa.  No tenemos derecho a decidir quién vive y quién muere.  Siempre debemos recordar que Dios es quien nos forma a todos en el útero.  - Comentario de: Arial Merick

"Is It Killing?,"

Today's Verse:

You shall not kill.- Exodus 20:13

There has been an ongoing debate for a long while now, about whether an unborn baby (fetus) is truly a person and at what stage does human life begin? Does it begin at conception, birth, or somewhere in between? Does a woman have the Right to abort her unborn child? Psalm 139:13 -16 says: “For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed.” Those scriptures are powerful and revealing. A fetus is not just a clump of cells! We do not have the authority to take another’s life. God is the Creator of all life; therefore, only He has the authority to decide when life is to begin or end. I encourage everyone to study their Bible. It holds all the answers to living a Godly life. We do not have the Right to decide who lives and who dies. We should always remember that God is the one who forms every one of us in the womb. - Commentary by: Arial Merick

 Criar a un niño es una gran responsabilidad.  Los padres deben asegurarse de que sus hijos estén equilibrados emocional y espiritualmente.  Como padre, a veces es fácil olvidar que nuestros hijos observan nuestras acciones y nos imitan.  Si un niño es criado en un hogar abusivo, el daño emocional puede ser significativo.  Lo más probable es que el niño crezca para tener una relación abusiva o sea un abusador.  Lo mismo sucede con el consumo de alcohol o drogas.  Cuando el niño ve esto en casa, es muy probable que también crezca bebiendo y usando drogas.  Un ejemplo de esto es que es el fin de semana y hay un juego en la televisión y papá tiene a sus "amigos" para ver el juego y se emborrachan.  Los niños ven esto y piensan que está bien comportarse así.  “Mami y papi lo hacen;  debe estar bien ".  Padres, Dios es su consejero espiritual y, si no lo es, por favor háganlo suyo hoy.  Nuestros hijos necesitan ser criados en hogares amorosos y centrados en Cristo.  Hagamos eso lo que ven y emulan de nosotros.  - Comentario de: Abigail Edgecott

"Through the Eyes of a Child,"

Today's Verse:

Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray. - Proverbs 22:6

Raising a child is a huge responsibility. Parents need to make sure their children are emotionally and spiritually well-rounded. It is easy as a parent to sometimes forget that our children watch our actions and mimic us. If a child is raised in an abusive home, the emotional damage can be significant. Chances are that child will grow up to be in an abusive relationship or be an abuser themselves. The same thing happens with drinking or drug use. When the child sees this at home more than likely they too will grow up drinking and be using drugs. An example of this is, it’s the weekend and there is a game on television and Dad has his “buddies” over to watch the game and they get drunk. Children see this and think it’s okay to behave like that. “Mommy and Daddy do it; it must be all right.” Parents, God is your spiritual advisor and if He isn’t, please make Him yours today. Our children need to be raised in Christ-centered, loving homes. Let’s make that what they see and emulate from us. - Commentary by: Abigail Edgecott

 Por la mañana, cuando todavía estaba muy oscuro, se levantó y salió a un lugar desierto, y allí rezó.  - Marcos 1:35

 Amo pasar tiempo con Jesús.  Cuando estoy pasando por tiempos difíciles en mi vida, y necesito un lugar tranquilo para hablar con Él, me encanta caminar en el bosque entre la naturaleza.  Me siento tan cerca de Jesús allí: entre animales corriendo, pájaros cantando y el agua gorgoteante de un arroyo, el susurro de los pinos y el crujir de las hojas debajo.  Es en la naturaleza que me siento nutrido.  Después de hablar con él, me siento muy relajado y en paz.  Mis cargas se levantan al compartir mis problemas.  Usualmente termino mi conversación con estas palabras: "Señor, cualquiera que sea tu voluntad para mí, eso es lo que yo también quiero".  Ir a un lugar tranquilo donde no hay interferencia, es una excelente manera de tener una conversación individual con Él.  Dios es omnipresente, lo que significa que está en todas partes.  Si no puedes salir a la naturaleza, solo date cuenta de que Él está allí donde estás.  Solo grita Su nombre.  - Comentario de: Anna Pachaud

"Nurtured in Nature,"

Today's Verse:

In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed. - Mark 1:35

I love spending time with Jesus. When I am going through tough times in my life, and I need a quiet place to talk to Him, I love to walk in the woods among nature. I feel so close to Jesus there: among scurrying animals, birds singing and the gurgling water of a creek, the whisper of pine trees, and the crunch of leaves underneath. It is in nature that I feel nurtured. After my talk with Him, I feel so relaxed and at peace. My burdens are lifted in the sharing of my problems. I usually end my conversation with these words: “Lord, whatever your will is for me, that is what I want too.” Going somewhere quiet where there isn’t any interference, is a great way to have a one-on-one conversation with Him. God is omnipresent, which means He is everywhere. If you can’t get out in nature, just realize He is right there where you are. Just call out His name. - Commentary by: Anna Pachaud

"Rejoicing in Sufferings,"/"Regocijándose en los sufrimientos":

"Regocijándose en los sufrimientos"

 Ahora me regocijo en mis sufrimientos por tu bien, y en mi carne estoy completando lo que falta en las aflicciones de Cristo por el bien de su cuerpo, es decir, la iglesia.  - Colosenses 1:24

 Estar en un ministerio puede ser difícil pero también gratificante.  Puede estar lleno de dolor, decepción y dolor, pero ninguno de estos es nuevo.  Jesús encontró rechazo, persecución y sufrimiento.  Sin embargo, no estamos sufriendo en vano porque lo hacemos por su cuerpo, la Iglesia.  Recuerdo vívidamente cuando nuestra iglesia local estaba formando una banda bajo el ministerio de música para tocar en vivo en el servicio de la iglesia.  No puedo contar el número de rechazos y decepciones que encontré.  Al principio parecía que muchos estaban interesados, pero cuando llegó el momento de poner en práctica las palabras, lamentablemente, muchos se negaron y rechazaron la invitación y la oportunidad de servir.  Hubo algunos que dijeron que sí, pero llegaron sesiones de práctica y muchos no se presentaron.  Al final del día, recibiría un mensaje de texto de disculpa por su ausencia.  A veces, no recibí ningún mensaje en absoluto.  Estaba allí afuera colgando y esperando.  Fue frustrante, pero con el tiempo por la gracia de Dios, aprendí a regocijarme en mis sufrimientos.  Estaba comprometido con el ministerio y sabía que estaba haciendo esto por el Señor.  Afortunadamente, todas las cosas funcionan juntas para bien y para la gloria de Dios.  Si estás en el mismo barco, no te desanimes.  Deje que Jesús sea el modelo para su ministerio.  Recuerda, no estás solo porque Dios está contigo.  Busque su guía y Él podría estar enseñándole cómo regocijarse y prosperar en sus sufrimientos.  - Comentario de: Mark Natividad

"Rejoicing in Sufferings,"

Today's Verse:

I am now rejoicing in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am completing what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of His body, that is, the church. - Colossians 1:24

Being in a ministry can be tough but also rewarding. It can be filled with pain, disappointment, and grief but none of these are new. Jesus encountered rejection, persecution, and suffering. However, we are not suffering in vain for we do it for His body, the Church. I remember vividly when our local church was forming a band under the music ministry to play live in the church service. I cannot count the number of rejection and disappointments I encountered. It seemed at first that many were interested but when the time came for words to be put into action, sadly, a lot refused and turned down the invitation and opportunity to serve. There were some who said yes but practice sessions came, and many were a no show. At the end of the day, I would receive a text message of apology for their absence. Sometimes, I did not receive any message at all. I was out there left hanging and hoping. It was frustrating but over time by God’s grace, I have learned to rejoice in my sufferings. I was committed to the ministry and knew I was doing this for the Lord. Thankfully, all things work together for good and for the glory of God. If you are in the same boat, don’t get discouraged. Let Jesus be the model for your ministry. Remember, you are not alone for God is with you. Seek His guidance and He might be teaching you how to rejoice and thrive in your sufferings. - Commentary by: Mark Natividad

Our Heavenly Father, please give us the strength and wisdom to endure suffering. Lord, grant us a positive outlook and joyful attitude to overcome the hardships and painful times. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

 Tenga cuidado de practicar su piedad ante los demás para ser visto por ellos;  porque entonces no tienes recompensa de tu Padre en el cielo.  - Mateo 6: 1

 Vivimos en un mundo egocéntrico, y eso me entristece más allá de todo lo que he encontrado.  Todo sobre la sociedad "yo" en la que vivimos va en contra de lo que Dios quiere de nosotros.  Parece que cuanto más tenemos, más queremos.  La mayoría de nosotros ya sabemos cosas materiales que no nos hacen felices, así que ¿por qué no ayudar a los necesitados?  Ser generoso es una cualidad de entrega generosa.  Dios quiere que demos en silencio.  No debemos hacer lo que hacen algunos bancos y corporaciones al hacer que la primera plana del periódico muestre a un representante dando un cheque.  Eso no es dar en silencio.  Llamo a eso dar con un propósito;  poniendo el foco en el donante que quiere ser alabado por otros.  Mateo 6: 1-4 habla de esto mismo.  Cuando das, hazlo con amabilidad, generosidad y desde tu corazón.  Hazlo sin esperar alabanza y gloria.  La próxima vez que das, pregúntate "¿estoy dando sin esperar algo a cambio?"  - Comentario de: Abigail Edgecott

"Quiet Generosity,"

Beware of practicing your piety before others in order to be seen by them; for then you have no reward from your Father in heaven. - Matthew 6:1

We live in a self-centered world, and that saddens me beyond anything I have encountered. The all about “me” society we live in goes against what God wants from us. It seems the more we have the more we want. Most of us already know material things don’t make us happy, so why not help those in need. Being generous is a quality of unselfish giving. God wants us to give quietly. We are not to do like some banks and corporations do by making the front page of the newspaper showing a representative giving a check. That is not giving quietly. I call that giving with a purpose; putting the focus on the giver wanting to be praised by others. Matthew 6:1-4, talks about this very thing. When you give, do it with kindness, unselfishness, and from your heart. Do it without expecting praise and glory.  ¿En qué parte de tu vida te ves dando a la habitación del diablo?  ¿Dónde está viviendo y dónde le has dado oportunidades para afectar tu vida?  A veces me siento como Pablo en Romanos 7:15 cuando dice: “No entiendo mis propias acciones.  Porque no hago lo que quiero, pero hago lo que odio ”.  Hay momentos en que surge un problema aleatorio, inesperadamente y te comportas de una manera que no está en línea con tu personaje.  Esto viene de un lugar donde hemos dejado espacio para el diablo.  Esté atento a las trampas por las que sigue caminando y cierre la puerta.  Dios nos ha llamado a cosas más altas y propósitos más grandes.  Te animo a orar por cómo se ve esto en tu vida.  Desarraigarlo puede ser muy difícil, pero nuestro Dios es fiel.  Aguanta sin importar cuánto tiempo pueda tomar.  - Comentario de: Kristina Taylor

"Room for the Devil?,"

Today's Verse:

Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not make room for the devil. - Ephesians 4: 26-27

Where in your life do you see yourself giving the devil room? Where is he living and where have you given him opportunities to affect your life? Sometimes I feel like Paul in Romans 7:15 when he says, “I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.” There are those times when a random issue pops up, unexpectedly and you behave in ways that aren’t in line with your character. This comes from a place where we’ve allowed room for the devil. Keep an eye out for those traps you keep walking into and close the door to it. God has called us to higher things and greater purposes. I encourage you to pray over what this looks like in your life. Uprooting it can be very difficult, but our God is faithful.  Nuestra lengua es probablemente una de las armas más complejas jamás hechas.  Puede desencadenar resultados bastante sorprendentes en cualquier momento.  Puede lanzar insultos de la nada, puede atravesar un corazón desde cualquier distancia, puede noquear la autoestima de una persona en un instante y puede destruir las relaciones a la velocidad del rayo.  Hay un viejo dicho, "palos y piedras pueden romper mis huesos, pero las palabras nunca me harán daño".  La verdad es que sí duelen.  De hecho, pueden doler mucho.  Aprende a alejarte en el calor del momento.  Ora por las palabras que salen de tu boca.  Recuerde que una vez que se pronuncian sus palabras, no se pueden recuperar.  El dolor infligido por tu lengua puede durar toda la vida, así que ten mucho cuidado con lo que dices.  Como dice el versículo anterior: "el día del juicio tendrás que dar cuenta de cada palabra descuidada que pronuncies".  Solo usted puede elegir usar su lengua como arma o usarla para bien, como Dios quiere que lo hagamos.  - Comentario de: Anna Pachaud

Today's Verse:

I tell you, on the day of judgment you will have to give an account for every careless word you utter; for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. - Matthew: 12:36-37

Our tongue is probably one of the most intricate weapons ever made. It can trigger some pretty amazing results at any given time. It can hurl insults from out of nowhere, it can pierce a heart from any distance, it can knock out a person’s self-esteem in a flash, and it can blow apart relationships at lightning speed. There is that old saying, “sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” The truth is they do hurt. In fact, they can hurt a lot. Learn to walk away in the heat of the moment. Pray about the words that come out of your mouth. Remember that once your words are spoken, they cannot be taken back. The hurt inflicted by your tongue can last a lifetime, so be very careful about what you say. Like the verse above says: “on the day of judgment you will have to give an account for every careless word you utter.” Only you can make the choice of using your tongue as a weapon or using it for good, as God wants us to. - Commentary by: Anna Pachaud

Isn’t it amazing how often God’s Word seems to flip conventional, earthly wisdom on its head? The world says the strong are revered and honored while the weak are pretty much ignored. But God says the strong will become weak and the weak will become strong. The world says the first are first because they are the best and the heck with the last. But God says, in His kingdom, the first will be last and the last will be first. The world says the humble should be ignored while the exalted should be, well, exalted. But God sees it the opposite way. He says the humble will be exalted while the exalted will be humbled. God tells us that trouble is not really trouble at all, but a beautiful thing. Trouble is beautiful because trouble is an opportunity for joy. God instructs us not to look at trouble as the world does, but as a chance to grow in our faith. Let us increase our trust in Him, be a Godly example to others, change a life, or better yet, help save a life. God says trouble equals joy. What a way to live life! - Commentary by: Jerry Schemmel

My sister sells all sorts of things from bags, and fragrances to electronics. Now I am not the kind of person who is impulsive and buys anything that I don’t require but if I really do need something, I will purchase it. She knows this and over time as she gained more experience and knowledge, she very well knows the types of stuff to present to me that I will likely buy. She seems to be having a grand time but I have learned that her job is not easy by any means. I asked her who the most difficult customers were to deal with and without hesitation, she answered “our relatives.” She expressed sentiments that no matter how much discounted the price she is offering and the amount of money they will be saving, they are still doubtful, wary, and unappreciative. I could sense she was hurt going through that circumstance but she remained unfazed and continues with her business. Indeed it is true what the famous founder of Alibaba, Jack Ma, once said, “When selling to close friends and family, no matter how much you’re selling them, they will always feel you’re earning their money, no matter how cheap you sell to them, they still wouldn’t appreciate it.” Now Jesus was not selling anything to people, instead He freely offered Himself, the Bread of Life and the Living Water. Many did not believe Him. Yet this did not stop or prevent our Savior from fulfilling His mission. So don’t get discouraged by doubters even if they are your brothers and sisters. Mientras estaba fuera de la ciudad el otro día, conducía por algunas carreteras secundarias desconocidas.  Había muchos árboles a ambos lados del camino y, aunque eran hermosos, eran monótonos a la vista.  Varios kilómetros más adelante, el sol comenzó a asomarse por el cielo nublado y la escena que tenía ante mí cambió de hermosos árboles viejos a gloriosos nomeolvides.  Las nomeolvides son hermosas florecillas azules con centros amarillos que se autoexcluyen, lo que significa que se extienden por todas partes.  Ambos lados del camino estaban vestidos de color.  Me llevó a mi infancia cuando me encantaba recoger esas pequeñas flores azules en la casa de mi abuela.  Escogería un ramo pequeño para la abuela y se los llevaría adentro, donde los exhibía amorosamente en el centro de la mesa como si fueran un hermoso centro de mesa de rosas.  Ese maravilloso recuerdo de un ramo de nomeolvides me recuerda a nuestro Señor.  Él no nos olvida, ni quiere que lo olvidemos.  Él es nuestro escudo, nuestro mentor, nuestro maestro, y no olvida a sus hijos.  Él no "se marchita ni se desvanece", y nos cuidará con amor y no nos abandonará.  - Comentario de: Anna Pachaud

"Forget Me Not,"
Today's Verse:
The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever. - Isaiah 40:8
While out of town the other day, I was driving on some unfamiliar back roads. There were lots of trees on both sides of the road and although they were beautiful they were monotonous to look at. Several miles up the road the sun started peeking out of the cloudy sky and the scene before me changed from beautiful old trees to glorious forget-me-nots. Forget-me-nots are beautiful little blue flowers with yellow centers that are self-seeders, meaning they spread everywhere. Both sides of the road were clothed in color. It took me back to my childhood when I loved to pick those little blue flowers at my grandmother’s house. I would pick a small bouquet for grandma and take them inside to her where she lovingly displayed them in the middle of the table as if they were a beautiful centerpiece of roses. That wonderful memory of a bouquet of forget-me-nots reminds me of our Lord. He doesn’t forget us, nor does He want us to forget Him. He is our shield, our mentor, our teacher, and He does not forget His children. He does not “wither or fade,” and He will lovingly care for us and not forsake us. - Commentary by: Anna Pachaud

 La fe puede ser un concepto difícil.  La mayoría de nosotros queremos ver pruebas de algo antes de creer que es verdad.  Sin embargo, se espera que creamos en Dios, que es invisible, y en Su Hijo, que vino a la tierra para morir por nuestros pecados hace dos mil años.  Tener fe en la Trinidad significa dejar de lado nuestra necesidad de pruebas, dejar de lado nuestro orgullo y confiar en Dios.  La fe requiere un acto de nuestra voluntad.  Puede ser difícil al principio, pero hace la vida mucho mejor.  Como dice el versículo, la fe da esperanza porque proporciona un propósito para nuestros días.  La fe en nuestro Padre amoroso permite que la alegría y la paz anulen el miedo y la incertidumbre.  La fe en Dios nos asegura y consuela al final de la vida de nuestros seres queridos, así como a la nuestra.  La fe en el amor y la misericordia de Dios nos da el placer de comenzar de nuevo cada mañana.  - Comentario de: Colleen Mallette

"Have Faith,"

Faith can be a difficult concept. Most of us want to see proof of something before we believe it to be true. However, we are expected to believe in God who is invisible, and in His Son who came to earth to die for our sins two thousand years ago. Having faith in the Trinity means letting go of our need for proof, letting go of our pride, and trusting in God. Faith requires an act of our will. It may be difficult at first, but it makes life so much better. As the verse says, faith gives hope because it provides a purpose to our days. Faith in our loving Father allows joy and peace to override fear and uncertainty. Faith in God assures and comforts us at the end of our loved one's lives as well as our own.  Todos tenemos propósitos específicos en el cuerpo de Cristo: nuestros dones espirituales que recibimos al recibir el Espíritu Santo en el bautismo.  Cuando todos trabajamos juntos adecuadamente, el cuerpo de Cristo crece en amor o en los caminos de Cristo.  Parte de hacer esto es posponer nuestro viejo yo, recibir nuestro nuevo yo en el bautismo, deshacernos de nuestro yo corrupto y dar como resultado la renovación de nuestras mentes.  El nuevo yo que ponemos se crea a semejanza de Dios a través de la verdadera justicia y santidad.  Ya no somos gentiles, sino herederos de Cristo llamados a un propósito superior. ¿Cómo es tu antiguo yo?  Algunas características de los gentiles son inútiles en mente, comprensión oscura, ignorancia y avaricia.  ¿Tienes características gentiles que aún andan por ahí?  Ora para que Dios te revele esto.  - Comentario de: Kristina Taylor

"Old Self & New Self,"

“as each part [of the body of Christ] is working properly, promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love.” - Ephesians 4:16

We all have specific purposes in the body of Christ - our spiritual gifts that we received upon receiving the Holy Spirit in baptism. When we are all working together properly, the body of Christ grows in love, or, in the ways of Christ. Part of doing this is putting off our old selves, receiving our new selves in baptism, ridding of our corrupt selves and resulting in the renewing of our minds. The new self we put on is created in the likeness of God through true righteousness and holiness. We are no longer gentiles, but heirs of Christ called to a higher purpose.What does your old self look like? Some characteristics of gentile are futile in mind, darkened understanding, ignorance, and greed. Do you have gentile characteristics still hanging around? Todos nos preocupamos, parece que no podemos ayudarnos a nosotros mismos.  No importa cuánto digamos que confiamos en la provisión de Dios, siempre hay cosas por las que tenemos ansiedad.  Ya sean cosas importantes (diagnósticos médicos, cambios de carrera, la muerte de seres queridos) o pequeñas cosas cotidianas (llegar tarde, cosas rotas o derramadas, encontrar tiempo para estudiar la Palabra de Dios), hay muchas cosas de las que preocuparse.  Pero preocuparse desafía la fe.  Dios nos dice en este versículo que no nos preocupemos por nada.  Él sabe todo lo que estamos enfrentando.  Su Hijo Jesús lidió con muchos de los mismos problemas y emociones que nosotros, y Él está allí para consolarnos.  Dele todas sus preocupaciones a nuestro Padre Amoroso y confíe en que Él lo ayudará a lidiar con ellos.  Te sorprenderá la paz que te dará.  - Comentario de: Colleen Mallette

We all worry, we can’t seem to help ourselves. No matter how much we say we trust in God’s provision, there are always things we tend to get anxious about. Whether they are big things (medical diagnoses, career changes, the death of loved ones) or little everyday things (being late, broken or spilled things, finding time to study God’s Word,) there are plenty of things to fret over. But worrying defies faith. God is telling us in this verse to not worry about anything. He knows all that we are facing. His Son Jesus dealt with a lot of the same problems and emotions we are, and He is there to comfort us. Give all your worries to our Loving Father and trust He will help you deal with them. Muchas personas gastan bastante dinero en ropa.  Quieren verse y sentirse bien.  A la gente le gusta vestirse con los últimos estilos, obtener el último corte de pelo y les encanta lucir el epítome del éxito.  ¿Alguna vez te has vestido bien y te veías bien por fuera, pero por dentro no te sentías bonita o bien junta?  Dios conoce nuestros corazones.  Se preocupa por lo que hay dentro de nosotros.  Puedes gastar tanto dinero como puedas en tu apariencia exterior, pero si tienes un corazón enojado, una sonrisa amarga, eres impaciente u odioso, no te estás vistiendo como Dios quisiera que lo hicieras.  Piensa en cómo puedes cambiar tu corazón y tu mente para que sea agradable a Dios.  Luego observa cómo irradias por fuera, lo que sientes por dentro.  - Comentario de: Anna Pachaud

Many people spend quite a bit of money on clothes. They want to look and feel good. People like to dress in the latest styles, get the latest haircut, and they love to look the epitome of success. Have you ever dressed well and looked good on the outside, but on the inside you didn’t feel pretty or well put together? God knows our hearts. He cares about what is inside of us. You can spend as much money as you can afford on your outside appearance, but if you have an angry heart, bitter smile, are impatient or hateful, you are not clothing yourself as God would have you do. "The Third Time,"

Today's Verse:

This is the third time I am coming to you. - 2 Corinthians 13:1a

Being a father of two kids, this verse sounds all too familiar. Parents often repeat instructions, lessons, and warnings to their children. Often children ignore and disobey their parents until they learn the difficult lesson for themselves. Apostle Paul was a spiritual father to many early Christians having spent many years traveling as a missionary, church planting, and church building. Paul tirelessly continued to monitor how the early believers and churches were doing and he saw to it that as a father-like figure, he never stopped disciplining and caring. I was a headstrong and stubborn teenager. While growing up I am sure I caused a lot of pain and disappointments for those people who loved me, especially my mother. However, she never ceased to support me. She never got tired correcting my shortcomings and lifting me up when I stumbled and failed. Let us listen to the advice of the church and our Christian elders, for we should not wait for them to come to us a third time before we change our ways. - Commentary by: Mark Natividad

For if a person with gold rings and in fine clothes comes into your assembly, and if a poor person in dirty clothes also comes in, and if you take notice of the one wearing the fine clothes and say, “Have a seat here, please,” while to the one who is poor you say, “Stand there,” or, “Sit at my feet,” have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? - James 2:1-4

In my almost 30 years of broadcasting in the NBA and MLB, I have encountered several very wealthy individuals. I have been in the presence of several multi-millionaire athletes and a few multi-billionaire owners. And I’ve seen the respect, even the reverence, these individuals seem to command from the masses. Most of us have been there. We seem to have a thing for the rich and famous, desiring to see their homes, wanting to know about their personal lives, following them on social media, while we sometimes ignore the poor and drive by the homeless. God makes no distinctions with people in regard to wealth. He loves us all the same. He loves His children because of who we are, not because of what we’re worth, and He wants us to do exactly the same. - Commentary by: Jerry Schemmel

Father God, please help us to look at others just like You do without regard to wealth, status or popularity. Help us not to make distinctions about others and help us to simply love them. Amen.
