 ¿Alguna vez ha tenido una sensación de vacío o ansiedad que lo molesta constantemente sin importar cuánto intente suprimirlo?  Incluso cuando participa en todo tipo de actividades para minimizarlo y olvidarlo, todavía está allí esperándolo.  Es casi como si estuviera esperando el momento en que estarás solo para comenzar a torturarte nuevamente.  Pero créeme, es un buen sentimiento ya que no es el enemigo lo que te está preocupando.  Está ahí para hacerte darte cuenta de que tu vida te está pasando y te estás perdiendo algo.  Te estás perdiendo a Dios!  Todo tu ser anhela desesperadamente la relación íntima y el amor que se supone que debemos compartir con Dios.  Sin ese amor, no puedes ser completo y realizado;  con ese amor, te alegrarás y te alegrarás todos tus días.  - Comentario de: Irina Radosavljevic

Even when you engage in all kinds of activities in order to minimize and forget it, it is still there waiting for you. It is there to make you realize that your life is passing you by and you are missing something. You are missing God!  Cuando María llegó donde estaba Jesús y lo vio, se arrodilló a sus pies y le dijo: "Señor, si hubieras estado aquí, mi hermano no habría muerto".  - Juan 11:32

 Cuando suceden cosas malas, siempre me pregunto qué podría haber hecho de manera diferente.  Todavía recuerdo vívidamente un accidente de hace unos años donde un automóvil se estrelló contra mi motocicleta.  Cada vez que lo pienso, el incidente es nuevo como sucedió ayer.  Creo firmemente que prevenir es mejor que curar.  Si practicamos buenos hábitos y nos preparamos para diferentes escenarios, los accidentes obvios pueden evitarse por completo y el peor daño podría mitigarse.  Durante este proceso de pensamiento, cuestionaría muchas de mis elecciones en torno al accidente.  ¿Qué tal si hubiera estacionado mi motocicleta un poco más lejos o si hubiera caminado más rápido a mi vehículo?  Después, sigo culpándome por estar en una posición vulnerable.  A veces, por emociones, cuestionaba erróneamente a Dios de manera similar a lo que Mary hizo sutilmente en este pasaje: "Si hubieras estado aquí, mi hermano no habría muerto".  Pero Dios es Dios y cuando quiere que las cosas sucedan, sucederá.  Sigamos depositando nuestra confianza en Él, porque Él conoce mejor y solo tiene la intención de lo mejor para nosotros.  - Comentario de: Mark Natividad

"What Ifs,"

Today's Verse:

When Mary came where Jesus was and saw Him, she knelt at His feet and said to Him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” - John 11:32

When bad things happen I always wonder what I could have done differently. I still vividly recall an accident from a few years ago where a car crashed into my motorcycle. Every time I think about it, the incident is fresh like it happened just yesterday. I’m a firm believer that prevention is better than a cure. If we practice good habits and prepare for different scenarios, obvious accidents can be avoided entirely and the worst damage could be mitigated. During this thought process I’d question many of my choices surrounding the accident. Like what if I had parked my motorcycle just a little farther or if only I would have walked faster to my vehicle. Afterward, I go on blaming myself for being in a vulnerable position. Sometimes, out of emotions, I would wrongfully question God similar to what Mary did subtly in this passage, “If you had been here, my brother would not have died.” But God is God and when He wants things to happen, it will happen. Let us continue to place our trust in Him for He knows better and intends only the best for us. - Commentary by: Mark Natividad

"Sin vergüenza"

Verso de hoy:

 No se avergüence, entonces, del testimonio de nuestro Señor o de mí, su prisionero, sino únase a mí para sufrir por el evangelio, confiando en el poder de Dios.  - 2 Timoteo 1: 8

 ¿Qué representas?  La mayoría de nosotros diría con orgullo que somos cristianos.  Hay muchos lugares en todo el mundo donde los cristianos son perseguidos y asesinados por practicar su fe.  Reunirse o ser encontrado con una Biblia los condena.  En la antigua Roma, los cristianos fueron ejecutados por animales salvajes para entretenerse.  Hoy en el Medio Oriente, los cristianos son cazados como criminales y se les da un ultimátum: convertir, irse o morir.  Cuando Jesús oró por sus discípulos poco antes de ascender al cielo, pidió que sus seguidores no fueran sacados del mundo sino que estaríamos protegidos mientras estuviéramos en el mundo.  (Juan 17: 14-16) Esta fue una declaración que presagiaba cómo se trataría a los cristianos hasta el final de los tiempos.  No seremos abrazados por todos.  Pero nuestro trabajo es vivir nuestras vidas de tal manera que quienes nos ven no puedan negar que lo que proclamamos es la verdad.  Nuestro trabajo es obedecer a Dios.  El Espíritu Santo se encargará del resto.  Debemos vivir sin vergüenza, compartir con amor la Palabra de Dios y enseñar a las personas acerca de Jesús.  - Comentario de: Chelsea Henry.

Today's Verse:

Do not be ashamed, then, of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel, relying on the power of God. - 2 Timothy 1:8

What do you stand for? Most of us would proudly say that we are Christians. There are many places around the world where Christians are persecuted and killed for practicing their faith. Meeting together or being found with a Bible condemns them. In ancient Rome, Christians were executed by wild animals for entertainment. Today in the Middle East, Christians are hunted like criminals and given an ultimatum: convert, leave, or die. When Jesus prayed for his disciples shortly before he ascended into heaven, he asked that his followers not be taken out of the world but that we would be protected while in the world. (John 17:14-16) This was a statement that was to foreshadow how Christians would be treated until the end times. We will not be embraced by everybody. But our job is to live our lives in such a way that those who see us can’t deny that what we proclaim is the truth. Our job is to obey God. The Holy Spirit will take care of the rest. We are to live unashamed, lovingly share the Word of God, and teach people about Jesus. - Commentary by: Chelsea Henry.

"Out With the Old,"/"Afuera con lo viejo,":

"Afuera con lo viejo,"

Verso de hoy:

 Limpie la levadura vieja para que pueda ser un nuevo lote, ya que realmente no tiene levadura.  Por nuestro cordero pascual, Cristo, ha sido sacrificado.  - 1 Corintios 5: 7

 Hice masa de pizza hace un par de días.  En cuestión de un par de horas, unas pocas tazas de ingredientes básicos se combinaron en una masa rezumante del tamaño de un galón que parecía que nunca iba a dejar de crecer.  Las personas antiguas como los israelitas utilizaron este mismo proceso durante generaciones y conservaban un trozo de masa para agregar a los ingredientes del día siguiente.  Este bulto contenía la "levadura vieja" que se expandiría, crecería y superaría a los nuevos ingredientes, convirtiendo la harina en masa.  Este proceso puede continuar durante años: un pequeño bulto agregado a una gran masa y superándolo por completo.  Esta es una analogía común para el pecado.  Un poquito puede infectar por completo y apoderarse de nuestras vidas o nuestras iglesias.  Pero Dios les dijo a los israelitas que comenzaran cada año y comieran pan sin levadura en la Pascua.  Todos hemos cometido errores y hemos hecho cosas de las que no estamos orgullosos y todos tenemos problemas de los que nos gustaría deshacernos.  ¡Este versículo nos dice que podemos!  Podemos limpiar lo viejo y comenzar de nuevo como nuevas creaciones en Cristo.  - Comentario de: Stephen Proctor

"Out With the Old,"

Today's Verse:

Clean out the old yeast so that you may be a new batch, as you really are unleavened. For our Paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed. - 1 Corinthians 5:7

I made pizza dough a couple of days ago. In a matter of a couple of hours, a few cups of basic ingredients combined into a gallon-sized oozing mass that looked like it was never going to stop growing. Ancient people like the Israelites used this same process for generations and they would keep a lump of their dough to add to the next day’s ingredients. This lump contained the “old yeast” that would expand, grow, and overtake the new ingredients, turning the flour into dough. This process can go on for years: one little lump added to a large mass and completely overtaking it. This is a common analogy for sin. One little bit can infect completely and take over our lives or our churches. But God told the Israelites to start over every year and eat unleavened bread at Passover. We’ve all made mistakes and done things we aren’t proud of and we all have issues we’d like to get rid of. This verse tells us we can! We can clean out the old and start fresh as new creations in Christ. - Commentary by: Stephen Proctor

Lord, thank You for Your grace. Help us to happily accept it and to live as unleavened people who are not defined by our mistakes and our shortcomings, but by our ability to overcome in Christ. Amen.

 Mientras leía esta historia sobre la curación milagrosa de un hombre paralítico, me fascinó.  La fe y la determinación de los hombres que decidieron traer a su amigo lisiado a Jesús para que fuera sanado fue maravilloso.  Se subieron al techo cargando toda la cama y al pobre hombre en ella, y luego lo bajaron del techo, a través de las tejas frente a Jesús.  ¡Qué escena tan increíble, destruyeron el techo!  Probablemente se burlaron de la multitud o incluso causaron su ira.  Jesús podría haberlos reprendido y haberlos enviado.  Pero su amor por su amigo fue tan grande que no les importó eso.  No dejan que ningún pensamiento desalentador les impida hacer lo que pretendían hacer.  ¡Lo lograron!  Jesús sanó al pobre hombre.  Sé valiente en tu corazón y lucha por lo que crees porque si somos tibios, Él nos escupirá de su boca.  - Comentario de: Irina Radosavljevic

"Mission Impossible,"

Today's Verse:

When he saw their faith, he said, ‘Friend, your sins are forgiven you’. - Luke 5:20

As I was reading this story about the miraculous healing of a paralyzed man I was fascinated. The faith and determination of the men who decided to bring their crippled friend to Jesus to be healed was wonderful. They climbed up to the roof carrying the whole bed and the poor man in it, and then lowered him down from the roof, through the tiles in front of Jesus. What an unbelievable scene, they destroyed the roof! They were probably mocked by the crowd or even caused their anger. Jesus could have rebuked them and sent them away. But their love for their friend was so great that they didn’t care about that. They let no discouraging thought prevent them from doing what they intended to do. They succeeded! Jesus healed the poor man. Be bold in your heart and fight for what you believe in because if we are lukewarm, He will spit us out of His mouth. - Commentary by: Irina Radosavljevic

 No hay nada mejor para los mortales que comer y beber, y encontrar placer en su trabajo.  Esto también, vi, es de la mano de Dios;  porque aparte de él, ¿quién puede comer o quién puede disfrutar?  - Eclesiastés 2: 24-25

 El antiguo Israel era una sociedad agraria, lo que significa que la gran mayoría de las personas eran granjeros, y todos contaban con tener una buena cosecha de año en año.  Eran una cultura muy comunal y su calendario giraba en torno a festivales en honor a las maravillas que Dios había hecho.  Cuando comían y bebían juntos, era literalmente el disfrute de su trabajo porque era la comida que plantaban, cosechaban y preparaban.  Aunque cultivaron su comida, confiaron en la mano de Dios para lograr condiciones favorables.  A veces, nuestro trabajo puede parecer mucho menos satisfactorio porque trabajamos en una oficina y hacemos un trabajo que a menudo no nos gusta.  Luego compramos alimentos cultivados a miles de kilómetros de distancia de nuestros hogares.  Si damos un paso atrás, podemos ver, como el escritor de este pasaje, que podemos encontrar placer en nuestro trabajo cuando recordamos que cada bendición proviene de Dios.  ¡Así que recuerda comer, beber y disfrutar los frutos de tu trabajo con las personas que te importan y dar gracias a Dios por su abundante bendición!  - Comentario de: Stephen Proctor

"Finding Enjoyment,"

Today's Verse:

There is nothing better for mortals than to eat and drink, and find enjoyment in their toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God; for apart from him who can eat or who can have enjoyment? - Ecclesiastes 2:24-25

Ancient Israel was an agrarian society, which means the vast majority of people were farmers, and everyone counted on having a good harvest from year to year. They were a very communal culture and their calendar revolved around festivals in honor of the wonders God had done. When they ate and drank together it was quite literally the enjoyment of their toil because it was the food they planted, harvested, and prepared. Although they cultivated their food they relied on the hand of God to bring about favorable conditions. At times our work can seem much less fulfilling because we toil in an office, and do work we often dislike. Then we buy food that was grown thousands of miles away from our homes. If we take a step back we can see, like the writer of this passage, that we can find enjoyment in our toil when we remember that every blessing comes from God. So remember to eat, drink, and enjoy the fruits of your labor with those you care about and give thanks to God for his bountiful blessing! - Commentary by: Stephen Proctor

Gracious God, thank you for making food delicious and for people to enjoy it with. When life is difficult, help us remember to step back and enjoy the fruits of our toil, our family, friends, and most of all enjoy You, who gave us these gifts. Amen.

"Unrepentant and Stubborn,"/"No arrepentido y terco":

"No arrepentido y terco"

versículo de hoy:

 En el trigésimo noveno año de su reinado, Asa estaba enfermo en sus pies y su enfermedad se volvió severa;  sin embargo, incluso en su enfermedad, no buscó al Señor, sino que buscó la ayuda de los médicos.  Entonces Asa se acostó con sus antepasados, muriendo en el cuadragésimo primer año de su reinado.  - 2 Crónicas 16: 13-14

 El rey Asa gobernó sobre Judá, el reino del sur, durante cuarenta y un años.  Hizo lo correcto y bueno a los ojos del Señor desde el comienzo de su reinado.  Comenzó a reformar al pueblo e hizo campaña para erradicar el paganismo y la idolatría de la tierra.  Quitó los altares extranjeros y los lugares altos y rompió las piedras sagradas.  Judá estaba en paz y no hubo guerra durante más de treinta años, ya que Dios los había bendecido para su reforma (2 Crónicas 14-15).  Lamentablemente, en el trigésimo sexto año de su reinado, en lugar de continuar depositando su fe en Dios, confió en otro rey que desagradó mucho a Dios.  A partir de entonces, Judá se enfrentó a la guerra.  Luego se enfermó gravemente y aún se negó a buscar al Señor.  Le fue bien durante treinta y cinco años, pero después de actuar tontamente, las cosas empeoraron.  Asa podría haberse arrepentido pero no lo hizo.  Sus últimos años fueron dolorosos en lugar de tener paz para un rey viejo y retirado.  Debido a la terquedad, los días de paz y comodidad fueron reemplazados por miseria y sufrimiento.  ¿Estás corriendo la buena carrera y peleando la buena batalla por Dios?  ¡Busca terminar fuerte como el apóstol Pablo!  No pierdas de vista el premio y no permitas que el Rey Asa se distraiga o disuada con orgullo y desobediencia.  - Comentario de: Mark Natividad

"Unrepentant and Stubborn,"

In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet, and his disease became severe; yet even in his disease he did not seek the Lord, but sought help from the physicians. Then Asa slept with his ancestors, dying in his forty-first year of his reign. - 2 Chronicles 16:13-14

King Asa ruled over Judah, the southern kingdom, for forty-one years. He did what was right and good in the eyes of the Lord since the beginning of his reign. He started to reform the people and campaigned to eradicate paganism and idolatry from the land. He removed the foreign altars and the high places and smashed the sacred stones. Judah was at peace and no war took place for thirty-plus years as God had blessed them for their reformation (2 Chronicles 14-15). Sadly, at the thirty-sixth year of his reign, instead of continuing to place his faith in God, he relied on another king which greatly displeased God. From then on, Judah faced war. He then got severely sick and he still refused to seek the Lord. He was doing well for thirty-five years but after acting foolishly, things turned for the worse. Asa could have repented but he did not. His last years were painful instead of having peace for an old and retiring king. Because of stubbornness, days of peace and comfort were replaced with misery and suffering. Are you running the good race and fighting the good fight for God? Seek to finish strong just like apostle Paul! What more could we want in our lives than joy in our heart and enlightenment of our mind? Children have beautiful souls filled with joy and happiness. When I look at the children, I see what God wanted when He created man. He wanted pure and innocent creatures, filled with His Spirit and delighted with life. Children’s eyes see the world differently, in the way God intended it to be, like a happy place filled with love and joy. But as we grow up, we lose our initial peace and delight and start feeling sad, lost, and empty. That is usually the beginning of our quest for wisdom. We desperately need to find out what is the meaning of our existence and where we are going. I took my kids out yesterday to fly their kites. The swirling invisible river of air pushed through the atmosphere with power and beauty as it grabbed the plastic sail and su*pended it in the air… until it unceremoniously swirled it around and crash landed the kite into the ground nose first. We saw the beauty and the frustration that the wind can bring. The wind can offer us a refreshing respite on a hot day, it can spin turbines that power our cities and it can form funnels that spin out of control and level entire towns. In this verse, Jesus explains to Nicodemus that the Spirit of God is like this beautiful and powerful force of nature. As Christians, we are born into that wonderful Spirit and the Spirit moves us in ways that we like and ways that we don’t. My family and I are blessed to live in a beautiful home surrounded by nature and close to the beach. This view often reminds me of what Jesus said to the crowd regarding worrying, “Look at the birds.” What a beautiful sight to see them flying, chirping, and free from all the worries of the world. However, I confess that I do still worry for me and my family, especially during these times of uncertainty brought on by the Coronavirus pandemic. However, every day I am reminded by these little and humble creatures to think less about my problems and think more about what my Heavenly Father is capable of doing. Can a woman forget her nursing child, or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. - Isaiah 49:15

Suffering can be a very lonely and isolating experience. Sometimes we don’t get answers to why we are suffering in this lifetime. Sometimes things don’t change. You don’t get your family member back. You don’t get remission. But that doesn’t mean that the Lord doesn’t see that, understand it, and want to help you through it. The next time you are going through a season of suffering, stop and ask the Lord to show you what lesson He wants you to learn. The Bible tells us God is sovereign and always in control (Psalm 11:4). God can use anything in your life for good, including suffering and hardship (Romans 8:28). God promises that He will never leave you alone in your season of suffering (Psalm 118:6). So when you don’t get the answer you want, or an answer at all, God is still on his throne and has a perfect plan for you (Isaiah 55:8). Seasons of suffering can be ripe ground for planting new seeds of faith that will grow into deep-rooted trees of faith. When I hear and read of nations celebrating their independence day, as a Filipino, I think of revolutionaries, armies, and bl*ody wars. The Philippines ' independence came at the cost of many lives. The Spanish colonial government possessed superior weaponry and technology, imagine knives, swords, and bayonets going up against revolvers, rifles, and artillery. But the Jewish independence from the Egyptians was not about armies or bl*ody wars, the Holy Bible tells us how God did everything for His chosen people. It was God who sent the plagues and performed the miracles, all the Israelites had to do was believe. On the day Pharoah finally allowed them to leave Egypt, the Israelites’ dependence upon God only grew more evident and the Lord never failed them. They traveled in the wilderness and the Lord went in front of them in a pillar of cloud by day, to lead them along the way, and a pillar of fire by night, to give them light so that they might travel by day and by night. What a wonderful sight it was! God provided them with everything they needed. As we grow in faith we realize that we are dependent on the Lord and apart from Him, we are nothing. Every time I read this verse I’m amazed by the ability of the Apostle Paul to explain things in such a simple way that even a child could understand. People tend to see themselves as very important and better than others because of their talents, skills, positions, or wealth. The truth is that every one of us has their own unique purpose and role in life. Everybody has unique gifts given by God and it is our task to find out what those gifts are and to use them for the glory of God. It doesn’t matter if our role seems small because every role given by God is irreplaceable. The brain is the most important part of the human body, but what would the brain do without the rest of the body? It would be useless. So, we are all valuable in the eyes of God and not only that - we are all parts of one body, we need each other and we are nothing without each other. - Commentary by: Irina Radosavljevic

I was sitting in a coffee shop one morning, having a cup of coffee before I started my day. In walked an elderly gentleman shuffling behind a walker. As he passed my table he stopped and asked me, “Do you know the gospels?” I was a little taken aback by the question, having not expected it. “Yes, yes,” I said. “I do know the gospels.” He didn’t say anything else but he left with a smile. As I finished my coffee I thought about what the gentleman had asked me. Five little words that left me speechless for just a second. That encounter with the elderly gentlemen happened about two years ago, and since then I too have found the courage to approach people about knowing Jesus. Not in quite the same way as the elderly gentlemen but in my own way. I have had people shake their head and walk away, but for the most part, I have had people listen and be receptive. This is what Jesus wants us to do. He wants us to tell people about Him and to let them know how we can have eternal life. Whether you ask someone in a coffee shop about whether they know Jesus or you knock on their door: He will give you the words to say such as, “Do you know the gospels?” - Commentary by: Arial Merick

 Mientras leía este pasaje, imaginé una escena.  Dos hombres ciegos sentados junto a una carretera polvorienta, probablemente mendigando, y Jesús viene rodeado de una multitud de personas.  Los ciegos se dan cuenta de que se acerca el profeta obrador de milagros del que tanto han oído hablar.  Es su única oportunidad de poder ver, por lo que gritan tan fuerte como pueden.  Pero la multitud les ordena severamente que se callen.  ¿Por qué?  Me imagino que esas personas estaban pensando: “¿Qué quieren ustedes dos hombres miserables?  Estás sentado allí en la tierra, inútil e indigno de nada.  ¿Esperas que el famoso profeta se detenga y te sane?  ¿Crees que eres digno de una curación milagrosa?  Afortunadamente, dos ciegos no escucharon lo que la gente decía.  ¡Ellos gritaron!  ¡Gritaron porque creían firmemente que Dios era bueno y lleno de misericordia!  Gritar era la señal de su fe.  Ten confianza en Dios y no te desanimes cuando todo se vuelva en tu contra.  Con un corazón sincero y humilde, grita al Señor, pero no para ser escuchado porque Dios conoce incluso nuestros pensamientos, sino para demostrar que realmente lo dices en serio.  - Comentario de: Irina Radosavljevic

There were two blind men sitting by the roadside. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they shouted, Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David! - Matthew 20:30

While reading this passage, I pictured a scene. Two blind men sitting by a dusty roadside, probably begging, and Jesus coming surrounded by a crowd of people. The blind men realize that the miracle-working prophet they have heard so much about is approaching. It is their only chance to ever be able to see, so they shout as loudly as they can. But the crowd sternly orders them to be quiet. Why? I imagine those people were thinking, “What do you two wretched men want? You’re sitting there in the dirt, useless and unworthy of anything. You expect the famous prophet to stop by and heal you? Do you think you are worthy of miraculous healing? Fortunately, two blind men didn’t listen to what people were saying. They shouted! They shouted because they strongly believed God was good and full of mercy! Shouting was the sign of their faith. Have confidence in God and do not get discouraged when everything turns against you. With a humble sincere heart shout to the Lord, but not to be heard because God knows even our thoughts, but to show that you really mean it. - Commentary by: Irina Radosavljevic

 Cuando le pedimos al Señor o creemos que Él hará algo por nosotros, no debemos dudar de su capacidad para cumplir sus promesas.  La fe es la confianza de lo que se espera y la seguridad de lo que no se ve.  Como creyentes en Cristo, debemos creer de todo corazón y no permitir que una pizca de duda se filtre. La fe da un cierto grado de paz y consuelo, mientras que la duda causa incertidumbre, preocupación y ansiedad.  Sí, podemos tener experiencias y situaciones que pueden hacernos querer cuestionar a nuestro creador, sin embargo, incluso en las situaciones más duras y dolorosas, Él está allí con nosotros.  Necesitamos confiar menos en este mundo y mantenernos firmes en nuestra fe.  El resultado de nuestra fe es lo que atrae a los nuevos creyentes al cristianismo, y nuestros testimonios de aferrarnos a Dios diariamente, inspiran y motivan a quienes nos rodean.  En toda la Biblia, un rasgo común de cada hombre y mujer de Dios es su fe inquebrantable.  Debemos tratar de emular a aquellos que nos han dejado con ejemplos de cómo vivir vidas piadosas.  Con todo, debemos continuar presentando nuestras peticiones ante el Señor con fe sabiendo muy bien que en el momento señalado, Él nos responderá.  - Comentario de: Etohan Akpan.

"Unshakeable Faith,"

Today's Verse:

But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. - James 1:6

When we make requests to the Lord or believe that He will do something for us, we need not doubt His ability to deliver on His promises. Faith is the confidence of things hoped for and the assurance of things unseen. As believers in Christ, we should believe wholeheartedly and not allow an ounce of doubt to creep in. Faith gives a certain degree of peace and comfort, whereas doubt causes uncertainty, worry, and anxiety. Yes, we may have experiences and situations that may make us want to question our maker, yet, even in the harshest most painful situations, He is there with us. We need to rely less on this world and stand firm in our faith. The outcome of our faith is what draws new believers to Christianity, and our testimonies of holding on to God daily, inspire and motivate those around us. Throughout the Bible, a common trait of every man and woman of God is their unshakeable faith. We should seek to emulate those who have left us with examples of how to live Godly lives. All in all, we should continue to place our requests before the Lord with faith knowing full well that at the appointed time, He will answer us. - Commentary by: Etohan Akpan.

 Algunos de nosotros nunca hemos desarrollado una relación fuerte con nuestros padres terrenales y esto nos afecta.  Afortunadamente para todos nosotros, independientemente de quiénes somos, nuestras experiencias, esperanzas, miedos y fechorías, todos compartimos un Padre común.  ¡Dios, el creador del universo entero, es un Padre para todos nosotros!  Nuestra relación con Él es única y especial.  Podemos comunicarnos con Él a cualquier hora, y Él nunca está demasiado ocupado para escuchar.  Podemos cantar, rezar y entregar nuestras vidas por completo a Él para que Él nos guíe.  Nuestro padre es más que un padre.  Es un mejor amigo con el que podemos compartir nuestra felicidad, éxito, ambiciones y mucho más sin temor a ser juzgados.  Es el mejor consejero, consolador y sanador.  Deja que todo se hunda por un momento.  Nuestro Padre al que todos tenemos acceso tiene la capacidad de restaurar completamente y guiarnos.  Entonces, ¿por qué no prestamos más atención a esta relación?  Una relación saludable con Dios resulta en una relación saludable con quienes nos rodean por defecto.  Acerquémonos a nuestro Padre: siéntese a sus pies, lea Su Palabra y aprenda más acerca de Él.  Su amor continuará rodeándonos.  - Comentario de: Etohan Akpan

"A Father Through It All,"

Some of us have never developed a strong relationship with our earthly fathers and this affects us. Fortunately for us all, regardless of who we are, our experiences, hopes, fears, and wrongdoings, we all share a common Father. God, the creator of the entire universe, is a Father to us all! Our relationship with Him is unique and special. We can communicate with Him at any hour, and He is never too busy to listen. We can sing, pray, and completely surrender our lives to Him so He can lead us. Our Father is more than a father. He is a best friend with whom we can share our happiness, success, ambitions, and much more without fear of being judged. He is the best counselor, comforter, and healer. Let that all sink in for a moment. Our Father who we all have access to has the ability to completely restore, and guide us. So why do we not give more attention to this relationship? A healthy relationship with God results in a healthy relationship with those around us by default. Let us draw close to our Father: sit at his feet, read His Word, and learn more about Him.  Los malvados prosperan ante el sol, y sus brotes se extienden por el jardín.  - Job 8:16

 El himno favorito de mi abuelo fue "In the Garden".  Me encanta la primera línea: "Vengo solo al jardín, mientras el rocío todavía está en las rosas".  Los jardines son hermosos.  Ya sea un huerto, un jardín de flores, un jardín de rocas;  Sea lo que sea, los jardines son especiales, pero necesitan muchas cosas para prosperar.  Si no los riegas, las plantas no sobrevivirán.  Si no se arrancan las malas hierbas, eventualmente ahogarán la vegetación.  Es lo mismo con nuestra caminata diaria con Dios.  Nuestra relación con Dios siempre debe ser la más preciada de todas, pero requiere un trabajo muy parecido a nuestro jardín.  Necesitamos cuidar esta relación alimentándola con Su Palabra.  Cuando no lo hagamos, las malas hierbas (satanás) lo destruirán.  He visto a personas que cuidan sus jardines con amor, pasan horas en un día arrancando la maleza, regando, alimentando el suelo y cuidándolo como un recién nacido.  Piensa en lo hermoso que puede ser nuestro jardín con Dios, cuando lo nutrimos diariamente leyendo, estudiando y viviendo Su Palabra.  ¿No pasarás tiempo "en el jardín" hoy con nuestro Señor Jesucristo?  Cultiva tu relación con Él y observa cómo crece.  No dejes que se marchite.  - Comentario de: Abigail Edgecott

My grandfather’s favorite hymn was “In the Garden.” I love the first line: “I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses.” Gardens are beautiful. Whether it’s a vegetable garden, flower garden, rock garden; whatever it may be, gardens are special, but they need many things to thrive. If you don’t water them the plants won’t survive. If the weeds aren’t pulled they will eventually choke the vegetation. It’s the same way with our daily walk with God. Our relationship with God should always be the most treasured of all, but it requires work a lot like our garden. We need to care for this relationship by feeding it with His Word. When we don’t then the weeds (satan) will destroy it. I have seen people lovingly tend their gardens, spending hours in a day pulling the weeds, watering, feeding the soil, and caring for it like a newborn. Think about how beautiful our garden with God can be, when we nurture it daily through reading, studying, and living His Word. Won’t you spend time “In the Garden” today with our Lord, Jesus Christ? "Powerful Weakness,"/"Debilidad poderosa":

"Debilidad poderosa"

 pero él me dijo: "Mi gracia es suficiente para ti, porque el poder se perfecciona en la debilidad".  Entonces, me jactaré más alegremente de mis debilidades, para que el poder de Cristo pueda habitar en mí.  - 2 Corintios 12: 9

 Vivo con una enfermedad crónica.  Tomo nueve medicamentos al día y me hacen análisis cada pocas semanas.  No siempre entendemos por qué el Señor nos permite tener ciertos problemas y desafíos de salud.  Sin embargo, como Pablo nos recuerda en 2 Corintios, a veces el Señor no eliminará ciertas dificultades de nuestras vidas debido al testimonio que podemos compartir a través de ellas para darle gloria.  Nuestro testimonio puede superar cualquier beneficio potencial o alivio del problema que de otro modo podríamos recibir.  Pero si podemos decirle a los demás cuánto luchamos y cómo finalmente conseguimos la victoria a través de la fuerza del Señor y no de la nuestra, eso le da gloria.  Siempre que los problemas de salud crónicos u otros contratiempos lo depriman, ofrézcalos a Dios para que lo use como Él lo considere conveniente y también utilícelos como una señal de tráfico para señalar a otros la fuente de su fortaleza y esperanza.  Si podemos usar nuestras debilidades para señalar a Dios y darle la gloria, entonces esa es una debilidad muy poderosa.  - Comentario de: Chelsea Henry

"Powerful Weakness,"

Today's Verse:

but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. - 2 Corinthians 12:9

I live with a chronic health condition. I take nine medications a day and have labs drawn every few weeks. We don’t always understand why the Lord allows us to have certain health problems and challenges. However, as Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians, sometimes the Lord will not remove certain hardships from our lives because of the testimony we can share through them to give Him glory. Our testimony can outweigh any potential benefit or relief from the problem we might otherwise receive. But if we can tell others how hard we struggle and how we ultimately obtain victory through the Lord’s strength and not our own, that gives glory to Him. Whenever chronic health issues or other setbacks get you down, offer them up to God to use as He sees fit and also use them as a road sign to point others to the source of your strength and hope. If we can use our weaknesses to point to God and give Him the glory, then that's a very powerful weakness indeed. - Commentary by: Chelsea Henry

Lord, I don’t always understand why You allow me to have some of the problems I have, but I trust that You have a perfect plan for my life that is unfolding exactly the way You envisioned it. Please help me to remember that, especially when the going gets tough and I get discouraged. Amen.

 Ser un creyente en Cristo Jesús no nos hace inmunes a discusiones, debates o persecuciones.  He visto mi parte justa de estas cosas y, mirando hacia atrás, algunas fueron discusiones infructuosas y podrían haberse evitado fácilmente si fuera lo suficientemente maduro en ese momento.  Ahora, soy más prudente a la hora de elegir defender mi fe porque a menudo la otra parte no es sincera y solo está troleando.  Por lo general, su estilo es que tratarían de meterse en mi cabeza o debajo de mi piel siendo sarcásticos, molestos o groseros.  Cuando me doy cuenta de que la conversación no va a ninguna parte, ya es tarde y ha sido una pérdida de tiempo.  La única arma que necesito es la Sagrada Escritura.  Sería bueno mencionar citas de cristianos famosos, pero nada se compara con el poder y la autoridad de la Palabra de Dios.  Cuando Jesús fue tentado por el diablo en el desierto, respondió con las Sagradas Escrituras y ganó.  Toda la Escritura está inspirada por Dios y cualquiera que sea la situación, ya sea bajo circunstancias difíciles, enfrentando adversidades, enseñando o para corrección y entrenamiento en justicia, la Escritura es poderosa y más que suficiente para guiarte.  - Comentario de: Mark Natividad

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. - 2 Timothy 3:16

Being a Believer in Christ Jesus does not make us immune to arguments, debates, or persecution. I have seen my fair share of these things and looking back, some were unfruitful discussions, and could have easily been avoided if I was mature enough at that time. Now, I am more prudent in choosing when to engage in defending my faith because oftentimes the other party is insincere and only trolling. Usually their style is that they would try to get into my head or under my skin by being sarcastic, annoying, or rude. When I realize that the conversation is going nowhere, it is already late and has been a waste of time. The only weapon I need is Holy Scripture. It would be nice to mention quotes from famous Christians but nothing compares to the power and authority of the Word of God. When Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness He answered with Holy Scriptures and won. All scripture is inspired by God and whatever the situation is, be it under difficult circumstances, facing adversity, teaching, or for correction and training in righteousness, Scripture is powerful and more than enough to guide you. - Commentary by: Mark Natividad

"Resistencia,"

 Mis hermanos y hermanas, cuando enfrenten pruebas de cualquier tipo, no lo consideren más que alegría, porque saben que la prueba de su fe produce resistencia;  y deja que la resistencia tenga su efecto completo, para que puedas ser maduro y completo, sin nada.  - Santiago 1: 1-3

 Cuando pienso en la palabra resistencia, pienso en superar algo desagradable.  El tipo de resistencia que el Señor quiere es cuando confiamos en él con un corazón alegre.  Sabemos que Él es fiel siempre, sin falta.  Necesitamos esperar expectantes como si ya supiéramos que sus promesas se han hecho realidad.  Eso no significa que las tormentas en esta vida no vendrán.  Hay una razón para cada evento en tu vida.  Él te dio ciertos talentos, intereses y rasgos de personalidad para prepararte para hacer lo que te ha llamado a hacer.  Cuando comienzas a mirar la vida a través de la lente de llevar a cabo el propósito específico que el Señor te asignó, la vida se vuelve mucho menos complicada y mucho más clara.  Dejará de flotar en las olas de incertidumbre y, en cambio, permanecerá anclado en la seguridad.  Las tormentas son una certeza en esta vida.  Protegidos bajo sus poderosas alas, esperamos que las tormentas vayan y vengan.  Nos mantenemos alegres, esperanzados, constantes.  No cambiamos solo porque nuestras circunstancias lo hacen.  Nuestro Dios no cambia, así que debemos permanecer firmes también.  - Comentario de: Chelsea Henry

"Endurance,"

When I think of the word endurance, I think of getting through something unpleasant. The kind of endurance the Lord wants is when we trust him with a cheerful heart. We know that He is faithful always, without fail. We need to wait expectantly as though we already know his promises have come true. That doesn't mean that storms in this life won't come. There is a reason for every event in your life. He gave you certain talents, interests, and personality traits to equip you to do what He has called you to do. When you start looking at life through the lens of carrying out the specific purpose that the Lord assigned to you, life becomes a lot less complicated and a lot more clear. You will stop drifting on the waves of uncertainty and instead stay anchored in assurance. Storms are a certainty in this life. Sheltered under His mighty wings, we wait for the storms to come and go. We stay cheerful, hopeful, constant. We don't change just because our circumstances do.
