"Diez Mandamientos Revisados,"

Verso de hoy:

 Los mandamientos, “No cometerás adulterio;  No matarás;  No robarás;  No codiciarás ”;  y cualquier otro mandamiento, se resumen en esta palabra: "Ama a tu prójimo como a ti mismo".  El amor no perjudica al prójimo;  por tanto, el amor es el cumplimiento de la ley.  - Romanos 13: 9-10

 ¿Qué pasa si alguien te dice que ya no necesitas seguir los Diez Mandamientos?  ¿Pensarías que son herejes?  Por supuesto, debemos seguirlos lo mejor que podamos, pero piense en esto conmigo.  ¿Qué sucede cuando la gente convierte el cristianismo en una lista de "qué hacer y qué no hacer?"  Sienten orgullo cuando lo hacen bien y condena cuando fallan.  ¿Es eso cierto de ti?  El problema aquí es que comenzamos a confiar más en nosotros mismos para la salvación que en la gracia de Jesús.  Jesús vino porque no podemos cumplir la ley por nuestra cuenta.  En lugar de centrarse en "hacer y no hacer", céntrese en "amar y ser amado".  Amar a los demás naturalmente resultará en no cometer adulterio, asesinato, mentira, etc. Entender que Dios te ama a pesar de tus fallas resultará naturalmente en obediencia.  ¡Es a través de Jesús que tenemos la victoria y la capacidad de vivir en amor!  Comentario de Traci Elliott

 ¡Señor bondadoso, gracias por proporcionar un camino hacia ti!  Guárdanos de la locura del orgullo y la autocondena.  Ayúdanos a caminar en Tu amor y compartir ese amor con los demás.  Amén.

"Ten Commandments Revisited,"

Today’s Verse:

The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not covet”; and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law. - Romans 13:9-10

What if someone told you that you don’t need to follow the Ten Commandments anymore? Would you think they were a heretic? Of course, we need to follow them to the best of our ability but think through this with me. What happens when people turn Christianity into a list of “do’s and don’ts?” They feel pride when they do well and condemnation when they fail. Is that true of you? The problem here is that we begin to rely more on ourselves for salvation than on the grace of Jesus. Jesus came because we cannot fulfill the law on our own. Rather than focusing on the “do’s and don’ts,” focus on “to love and be loved.” Loving others will naturally result in not committing adultery, murder, lying, etc. Understanding that God loves you in spite of your failures will naturally result in obedience. It is through Jesus that we have the victory and the ability to live in love! Commentary by Traci Elliott

Gracious Lord, thank You for providing a way to You! Keep us from the folly of pride and self-condemnation. Help us to walk in Your love and share that love with others. Amen.
