"La razón,"

Verso de hoy:

 Y al ser encontrado en forma humana, se humilló y se hizo obediente hasta el punto de la muerte, incluso la muerte en la cruz.  Por tanto, Dios también lo exaltó sobremanera y le dio el nombre que es sobre todo nombre.  - Filipenses 2: 8-9

 A primera vista, este pasaje no le parece un verso sobre la Navidad, ¿verdad?  Bueno, en realidad lo es.  Jesús vino en forma de un bebé para sacrificarse para que pudiéramos ser salvos.  A menudo estamos tan envueltos en todo lo que sucede a nuestro alrededor en esta época del año que nos olvidamos de recordarnos a nosotros mismos y a los demás de qué se trata realmente esta temporada.  Como familia, pasamos una buena parte de nuestro fin de semana decorando para Navidad.  A decir verdad, no nos centramos mucho en la verdadera razón de la temporada navideña, pero ahora estamos haciendo el tiempo para hacerlo.  Está bien divertirse y dejarse llevar por las alegrías de la Navidad, pero también necesitamos hacer tiempo para las cosas más importantes.  No olvides que Jesús vino a morir para que podamos vivir.  Comentario de Matthew J.  Oración de hoy:

 Dios Padre, a veces nos olvidamos de recordar celebrar la maravillosa venida de Jesús, la verdadera razón por la que celebramos la Navidad.  Nos distraemos con las cosas de este mundo.  Este año oro para que abracemos a Tu Hijo más plenamente.  Amén.

"The Reason,"

Today’s Verse:

And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, even death on the cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name. - Philippians 2:8-9

At first glance, this passage doesn't really strike you as a verse about Christmas does it? Well, it actually is. Jesus came in the form of a baby to sacrifice himself so that we could be saved. We often get so wrapped up in everything going on around us at this time of the year that we forget to remind ourselves and others what this season is really all about. As a family, we spent a good portion of our weekend decorating for Christmas. Truthfully, we really didn’t focus much on the true reason for the Christmas season, but we are making the time to do so now. It’s okay to have fun and get taken in by the joys of Christmas, but we also need to make time for the more important things as well. Don’t forget Jesus came to die so we might live. Today’s Prayer:

Father God, we sometimes forget to remember to celebrate the wonderful coming of Jesus, the true reason we celebrate Christmas. We get distracted by the things of this world. This year I pray that we will embrace Your Son more fully. Amen.
