 La lengua amable es árbol de vida, pero su perversidad quebranta el espíritu.  - Proverbios 15: 4

 Este versículo nos proporciona un principio general que es válido para todas las personas.  La lengua del hombre es una de las herramientas más poderosas tanto para la construcción como para la destrucción.  El versículo nos dice que una lengua suave es un árbol de vida, lo que significa que puede producir avivamiento, consuelo y sanidad.  Sin embargo, la lengua perversa quebranta el espíritu, lo que significa que puede causar dolor, tristeza y angustia.  Nos recuerda que debemos elegir nuestras palabras sabiamente o incluso cambiar la forma en que hablamos con las personas.  No permitamos que la ira nos venza.  La ira incontrolada es la causa habitual de las palabras duras.  El orgullo y la arrogancia también son causa de palabras dolorosas, y la conversación lasciva es pecaminosa y algo en lo que ningún cristiano debería participar. This verse provides us with a general principle that is true for all people. The tongue of man is one of the most powerful tools for both building and destruction. The verse tells us that a gentle tongue is a tree of life which means that it can bring about revival, comfort, and healing. However, the perverse tongue breaks the spirit which means it can cause pain, sorrow, and distress. It reminds us to choose our words wisely or even change the way we talk to people. Let us not allow anger to overcome us. Uncontrolled anger is the usual cause of harsh words. Pride and arrogance are also a cause of painful words, and lewd conversation is sinful and something that no Christian should ever partake in. We should avoid these things and start thinking and focusing on how we can show our love and respect to the people around us. - Commentary By: Jeremy B. Trio

Lord, guard my lips from speaking things that can harm others. Help me to choose the right words to say that will build others up and not tear them down. Help me choose to love rather than to hurt people. Amen.

Today’s Verse:

Nevertheless, wisdom is vindicated by all her children. - Luke 7:35

Oftentimes we meet smooth talkers who easily convince people that their opinion is correct and best. But regardless of how persuasive they are, wisdom isn’t validated by winning arguments; true wisdom stands the test of time. That’s why the best source is God. Heeding bad advice will haunt us, but taking a good one will save us from disaster. When I was in training, I got picked on and attacked by a fellow trainee who is way older and bigger than me. Later that night, another trainee who I confided in advised me to strike back. He reasoned that if we were both expelled from training, the other trainee would take a bigger loss because it would be difficult for him to apply again while I was young and still had opportunities. By God’s grace, I did NOT heed his advice. As each day passed, his advice sounded more wrong and only proved he was not a friend. Wisdom never teaches us to do the wrong things to achieve good results but helps us choose to do what is right even though it’s hard. - Commentary by Mark Natividad

Our Heavenly Father, forgive me for listening to the wisdom of this world while ignoring the wisdom that comes from You and Your Word in the Holy Bible.  Finalmente, sé fuerte en el Señor y en la fuerza de su poder.  Ponte toda la armadura de Dios, para que puedas resistir las artimañas del diablo.  - Efesios 6: 10-11

 Margaret Thatcher dijo una vez: "Puede que tengas que pelear una batalla más de una vez para ganarla".  Eso me habla cuando lucho con la ansiedad.  Cuando leo el capítulo sobre ponerme la armadura de Dios para protegerme de los ataques del enemigo, me imagino al diablo, arco y flecha en mano, disparando flechas de fuego al objetivo de mi mente.  Empiezo a tener pensamientos ansiosos que se convierten en un corazón acelerado y un estómago nervioso.  Sin embargo, el Señor nos ordenó que no nos angustiéramos por nada.  Debemos confiar en que todo está bajo su control.  Entonces, ¿cómo hacemos eso cuando nuestros pensamientos promueven el miedo, la ansiedad y la preocupación?  El apóstol Pablo dijo que nuestra lucha no era contra sangre y carne y que debemos llevar cautivo todo pensamiento.  (2 Corintios 10.) Today’s Verse:

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. - Ephesians 6:10-11

Margaret Thatcher once said, “You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.” That speaks to me when I struggle with anxiety. When I read the chapter about putting on the armor of God to guard against the attacks of the enemy, I imagine the devil, bow, and arrow in hand, firing fiery arrows at the target of my mind. I start having anxious thoughts that turn into a racing heart and nervous stomach. However, the Lord commanded us not to be anxious over anything. We are to trust that everything is under His control. So how do we do that when our thoughts promote fear, anxiety, and worry? The apostle Paul said that our fight was not against flesh and blood and that we are to take every thought captive. (2 Corinthians 10) That may mean a daily battle, and we may have to fight it more than once to win it. But we don't have to try to win it trying to use our own strength. The Lord will give us the armor we need to stand strong against the enemy, and in fact, has already won the battle for us. - Commentary by: Chelsea Henry

Lord, help me to stand strong in the armor that You give me. Even when I don’t feel brave, help me to be strong and courageous by Your power. You have already won the battle over whatever I’m facing, and I just have to trust that You are in control. Amen!

"Joy in Sorrow,"/"Gozo en el dolor,":

"Gozo en el dolor,"

Verso de hoy:

 En verdad les digo que llorarán y lamentarán, pero el mundo se regocijará;  tendrás dolor, pero tu dolor se convertirá en alegría.  Cuando una mujer está de parto, tiene dolor, porque ha llegado su hora.  Pero cuando nace su hijo, ya no recuerda la angustia por la alegría de haber traído un ser humano al mundo.  Entonces tienes dolor ahora;  pero los volveré a ver, y se alegrará su corazón, y nadie les quitará su alegría.  - Juan 16: 20-22

 Mientras espero el nacimiento de mi tercer hijo, estos versos parecen especialmente conmovedores.  No hay duda de que hay mucho dolor en esta vida, pero Jesús nos ha dado algo que esperar, nos ha dado esperanza.  Sin embargo, tenemos una opción: ¿nos enfocaremos más en la tristeza y el dolor que estamos experimentando, o elegiremos enfocarnos en la alegría que viene?  Cuando está teniendo un bebé y comienzan los dolores de parto, concentrarse demasiado en cada contracción solo los empeora y el miedo comienza a instalarse. Very truly, I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will have pain, but your pain will turn into joy.  When a woman is in labor, she has pain, because her hour has come.  But when her child is born, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy of having brought a human being into the world.  So you have pain now; but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. - John 16:20-22

As I wait for the birth of my third child, these verses seem especially poignant.  There is no doubt that there is much pain in this life, but Jesus has given us something to look forward to, He has given us hope.  We have a choice though: will we focus more on the sorrow and pain that we are experiencing, or will we choose to focus on the joy that is coming?  When you’re having a baby and labor pains start, focusing too much on each contraction only makes them worse and fear starts to set in.  However, when you think about what you’re working toward, and that this pain won’t last forever, somehow the pain is a little more bearable.  Let us choose to focus on Jesus through our pain, knowing that He will turn our sorrows into joy in the most wonderful ways possible. - Commentary by: Traci Elliott

Lord Jesus, thank You for giving us hope that You will make all of our sorrow and pain worthwhile in the end.  Help us to keep our focus on You always so that we can bear the pain and have joy that no one can take away.  Amen.

"Good and Mad,"

Today’s Verse:

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, from the words of my groaning? O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer; and by night but find no rest. Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. - Psalm 22:1-3

Do you ever cry out to God and feel like He’s not listening? He doesn’t care? Do you ever get upset with God? Those are scary thoughts. He created everything. He sent Everest jutting up from the Earth and dredged trenches in the depths of the Pacific. He made the billions of stars, and that gives us a tiny picture of His tremendous glory. Yet we dare to be upset with Him? It seems crazy that many of us at times feel upset towards God. This verse, which Jesus will reference from the Cross, was one of many laments by David. He was a man after God’s own heart, yet he makes a habit throughout the Psalms of asking God where He is. I think this is God’s way of telling us that these feelings are only human. We may get angry but we need to remember He’s still God, always be respectful, and do not sin in our anger. That’s what David does here at the end, he still respects and gives God glory. Put off your anger and remember the God who created the Heavens and the Earth is the same God who loves you and wants the best for you. - Commentary by: Stephen Proctor

Lord, thank You for being patient enough to take our hurts and love us through them. You show us what perfect love looks like. Help us see You as a loving father that we can bring our troubles to. Versículo de hoy:

 ¡Simón, Simón, escucha!  Satanás ha exigido zarandearlos a todos ustedes como a trigo, pero he orado por ustedes para que su propia fe no falle.  - Lucas 22: 31-32

Simon, Simon, listen! Satan has demanded to sift all of you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your own faith may not fail. - Luke 22:31-32

Whenever we face trials in life it’s easy to get discouraged and wonder if they are from God to test and grow our faith, or whether they are from Satan, trying to tempt and discourage us. When God calls you to live for Him, Satan will try to attack you. But if you aren’t doing anything for the kingdom of God, his mission is already accomplished and he will leave you alone. An easy life doesn’t always equal a godly life. Trials are inevitable in this life, they are a certainty. When you feel as though you are under attack, pray that the Lord will strengthen you and your faith. Jesus himself prayed for His disciples when they were under attack. Be obedient to God and take heart that He will ultimately use everything for your good. And when the time for sifting comes, your faith will not fall away. - Commentary by: Chelsea Henry

This advice sounds so simple, but this is a great reminder for all of us who believe in Christ. The world is getting more dangerous every year. Immorality is becoming more prevalent, our society's norms are being eroded, and our ideas of right and wrong are being diminished. But God can transform all of us. Allow this verse to remind you again not to consent whenever sinners try to entice you. Our tempters may come at us with all forms of sin, anger, jealous, greed, etc. Our tempters may be close to us like our family, friends, and loved ones. But do not fall, turn away from sin, obey the words of our Father, and do not consent or give in to their temptations.  Una de mis cosas que me molestan tiene que ver con las promesas incumplidas.  Con tanta frecuencia en la vida, nos vemos atrapados en nuestra vertiginosa vida diaria que a veces no reconocemos las promesas que hacemos a otras personas.  Los clásicos son, "si necesitas algo, avísame, te llamaré o vendré a visitarte pronto".  Debemos tener cuidado al hacer promesas vanas.  Los niños y los adultos mayores son especialmente vulnerables a esto.  Los niños admiran a los adultos y les enseñamos a escuchar a sus padres, maestros, etc., por eso, cuando rompemos una promesa a un niño, es difícil para ellos entender.  Si no tenemos cuidado, nuestras palabras pierden sentido.  Lo mismo ocurre con nuestros ancianos.  A menudo, solos, dependen mucho de los demás, y cuando alguien promete hacer un mandado o una visita muy prometida que nunca se materializa, la depresión puede aparecer fácilmente. Debemos ser confiables y ser conscientes de lo que estamos diciendo.  La Biblia está llena de promesas de Dios en las que podemos confiar.  Están arraigados en su carácter inmutable y su amor por nosotros.  Recuerde que cuando nos hieren las promesas incumplidas y las palabras vacías de otras personas, sabemos que la Palabra de Dios nunca nos fallará.  - Comentario de: Arial Merick

One of my pet peeves has to do with broken promises. So often in life, we get caught up in our fast-paced daily lives that we sometimes don’t recognize the promises we make to other people. The classics are, “if you need anything let me know, I will call you, or come visit you soon.” We need to be careful when making idle promises. Children and older adults are especially vulnerable to this. Children look up to adults and we teach them to listen to their parents, teachers, etc., so when we break a promise to a child it is hard for them to understand. If we aren’t careful our words become meaningless. The same goes for our elderly. Often alone, they depend on others a lot, and when someone makes a promise of running an errand or a much-promised visit that never materializes, then depression can easily set in. We need to be dependable and mindful of what we are saying. The Bible is full of God’s promises that we can depend on. They are rooted in His unchanging character and love for us. Remember when we are hurt by other people's broken promises and empty words, we know that God’s Word will never fail us. - Commentary by: Arial Merick

 Entonces sacaron a Daniel del foso y no se le encontró ningún daño, porque había confiado en su Dios.  - Daniel 6:23

 Cuando espero que el Señor me libere de una situación, a veces me siento como Daniel sentado en el foso de los leones.  Sin embargo, sé que tenía fe en que Dios lo liberaría, ¿no tenía miedo?  Sé que el Señor tiene el control y tiene un plan, pero me preocupa que Su plan incluya sufrir por un tiempo antes de que las cosas mejoren.  Ahí es cuando los leones me parecen más reales.  Están tan cerca que puedo extender la mano y tocar su pelaje.  Ahí es cuando es más difícil creer que sus bocas realmente se han cerrado.  Ojalá pudiera mirarlos con confianza y decirles que no me asustan.  Ojalá tuviera el tipo de fe que pudiera mover montañas, pero estos leones a veces pueden parecer muy reales y cercanos.  Ahí es cuando oro, y no para que el Señor me quite el miedo.  Oro para que Él me ayude a ser fuerte y valiente de todos modos.  Si no tuviéramos miedo a veces, no seríamos humanos.  Pero es cuando somos obedientes al Señor a pesar de nuestro miedo que mostramos nuestra verdadera fe en Dios.  - Comentario de: Chelsea Henry.

Today's Verse:

So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God. - Daniel 6:23

When I am waiting on the Lord to deliver me from a situation, I sometimes feel like Daniel sitting in the lion's den. I know he had faith that God would deliver him however, wasn’t he afraid? I know the Lord is in control and has a plan, but I worry that His plan includes suffering for a little while before things get better. That’s when the lions seem most real to me. They are so close I can reach out and touch their fur. That’s when it is hardest to believe that their mouths have truly been shut. I wish I could confidently look at them and tell them they don’t scare me. I wish I had the kind of faith that could move mountains, but these lions at times can seem very real and close. That’s when I pray, and not for the Lord to take my fear away. I pray that He will help me be strong and courageous anyway. If we weren’t afraid at times we wouldn’t be human. But it’s when we are obedient to the Lord in spite of our fear that we show our true faith in God. - Commentary by: Chelsea Henry.

 Porque nadie puede poner otro fundamento que el que está puesto;  ese fundamento es Jesucristo.  - 1 Corintios 3:11

 Una vez que termina el invierno y las temperaturas son cálidas, hay una cosa en la que puede contar, y es la construcción y reparación de carreteras.  Mientras viajaba el verano pasado parecía que la construcción de carreteras estaba por todas partes.  Para el viajero, puede ser un dolor de cabeza: el tráfico lento, el ruido, los frecuentes arranques y paradas.  Recuerdo un área de constante construcción de nuevas carreteras por la que viajaba con bastante frecuencia.  Con el tiempo noté las diferentes fases por las que pasaron los trabajadores para construir la carretera.  Lo que más me llamó la atención es que necesitaba una buena base;  sin él, el camino no duraría.  Al igual que en la construcción de un camino fuerte y duradero, también lo es con nuestra vida espiritual.  Necesitamos una fe sólida y buena en Dios y Su Palabra para que nosotros también podamos construir una base duradera (relación) con Él.  Sin eso, nuestras vidas se derrumbarán y nuestra vida eterna con Él será inexistente.  ¿Como hacemos eso?  Oramos y estudiamos Su Palabra a diario, ya sea solos o en grupo, y vamos a la iglesia.  Así es como construimos fuerza, carácter, crecemos en santidad y aprendemos acerca de Jesús.  Sin una fe fuerte, nuestra base fracasará.  - Comentario de: Arial Merick

Once winter is over and the temperatures warm there is one thing you can count on, and that is road construction and repair. While traveling last summer it seemed road construction was everywhere. For the traveler, it can be a headache: the slow traffic, the noise, the frequent starts, and stops. I remember one area of constant new road construction that I traveled quite frequently. Over time I noticed the different phases the workers went through to build the road. What struck me most is that it needed a good foundation; without it, the road would not last. Just as in building a strong and lasting road, so it is also with our spiritual life. We need a good strong faith in God and His Word so that we may too, build a lasting foundation (relationship) with Him. Without that our lives will crumble and our eternal life with Him will be non-existent. How do we do that? We pray and study His Word daily whether it be alone or in a group, and we go to church. That is how we build strength, character, grow in holiness, and learn about Jesus. Without a strong faith, our foundation will fail. - Commentary by: Arial Merick

"Encontrar nuestro camino,"

 La mente humana planea el camino, pero el Señor dirige los pasos.  - Proverbios 16: 9

 Pasé un par de días de mochilero la semana pasada y este verso seguía cruzando mi mente.  Caminé por un lado del río, lo crucé y regresé por el otro lado.  Sabía que tenía que caminar unas 10 millas ambos días.  Tenía un plan, pero cuando llegué al bosque había muchos árboles y muy poco camino.  De vez en cuando, el camino se bifurcaba.  Caminaba un poco por un camino, luego retrocedía y caminaba un poco por el otro hasta que veía un pequeño rectángulo azul pintado en un árbol que me guiaba.  Tenía un plan.  Sabía a dónde iba, pero necesitaba ayuda para orientar mis pasos.  Dios es así.  Cuando no estamos seguros de qué hacer, Él está ahí.  Puede que tengamos que ir por el camino equivocado durante unos minutos, pero si lo estamos buscando, lo encontraremos y Él nos volverá a encaminar.  No se desanime por los errores, ¡anímese en Su compasión!  - Comentario de: Stephen Proctor

I spent a couple of days backpacking last week and this verse kept crossing my mind. I was hiking up one side of the river, crossing it, and going back along the other side. I knew that I had to hike about 10 miles both days. I had a plan, but when I got into the woods there were a lot of trees and very little path. Occasionally the path would fork. I would walk a little down one path, then go back and walk a little down the other until I saw a small blue rectangle painted on a tree guiding my way. I had a plan. I knew where I was going, but I needed help to direct my steps. God is like that. When we’re not sure what to do, He’s there. We might have to go the wrong way for a few minutes, but if we’re looking for Him, we’ll find Him and He’ll get us back on track. Don’t be discouraged about the mistakes, take heart in His compassion! - Commentary by: Stephen Proctor

 Escuchas las buenas noticias de alguien y estás realmente feliz por ellos, pero luego esa punzada de "¿por qué no yo?"  golpes.  En el fondo de un lugar oscuro, no nos gusta admitir que lo tenemos, queremos algo porque sentimos que lo merecemos.  Hemos sido pacientes y hemos esperado mucho tiempo por algo que simplemente no llegará.  Hemos hecho un mejor trabajo que la otra persona y consiguieron el ascenso.  La envidia, sin embargo, no tiene otro propósito real que robarnos la paz.  Vi una cita que decía: "desear que las cosas fueran diferentes es una excelente manera de torturarte".  Dios te puso donde estás con un propósito.  La verdad aleccionadora es que Dios sabe cómo actuará con lo que quiere.  A veces, no nos da más dinero porque no somos buenos administradores con el dinero que ya tenemos.  Dios sabe exactamente lo que necesita y no dudará en dárselo, pero no sucederá ni un minuto antes ni después de su tiempo perfecto.  Ser agradecido por lo que tienes.  Dios te dio todo lo que tienes por una razón, y quiere que lo uses para Él.  - Comentario de: Chelsea Henry

You hear someone’s good news and are genuinely happy for them, but then that pang of, “why not me?” hits. Deep down in a dark place, we don’t like to admit we have, we want something because we feel like we deserve it. We’ve been patient and waited a long time for something that’s just not coming. We’ve done a better job than the other person and they got the promotion. Envy, however, serves no real purpose other than stealing our peace. I saw a quote that said, “wishing things were different is a great way to torture yourself.” God put you where you are for a purpose. The sobering truth is, God knows how you will act with what you want. Sometimes He doesn’t give us more money because we aren’t good stewards with the money we already have. God knows exactly what you need and won’t hesitate to give it to you, but it will not happen a minute earlier or later than his perfect timing. Be thankful for what you have.  La NASA continúa lanzando imágenes detalladas y de alta definición del espacio, y en ellas, podemos ver más del sistema solar, galaxia y universo que habitamos que nunca.  Me maravillo cuando veo estas cosas, el inmenso tamaño y alcance de la creación.  ¡Disfruto mucho la creación de Dios!  Desde mirar la intrincada belleza de las rocas y las hojas bajo un microscopio hasta el vasto brillo de las estrellas lejanas a través de un telescopio, la creación de Dios nos muestra un mero indicio de su majestad creativa.  La mano de Dios está en todo eso, y tenemos el privilegio de experimentar y disfrutar el mundo que Él ha creado para nosotros.  Así que disminuya la velocidad, aprecie su creación, comprenda que siempre está con usted y sepa que lo ama.  - Comentario de: Stephen Proctor

NASA continues to release detailed, high definition images of space, and in them, we can see more of the solar system, galaxy, and universe that we inhabit than ever before. I marvel when I see these things, the immense size and scope of creation. I enjoy God’s creation so much! From looking at the intricate beauty of rocks and leaves under a microscope to the vast brilliance of far off stars through a telescope, God’s creation shows us a mere hint of His creative majesty. God's hand is in all of it, and we are privileged to get to experience and enjoy the world He’s created for us. So slow down, appreciate His creation, realize He is always with you, and know that He loves you. - Commentary by: Stephen Proctor

Gracious God, thank You for the grandeur and awe in the universe You have created. Help us to slow down and see Your hand in all of it. Give us curious minds and open hearts to worship You . Help us to remember that we should always worship only You the creator of all things. Amen.

 Cuando alguien sufre, es común querer tratar de consolar a esa persona con frases como "esto también pasará" o "fue lo mejor".  ¿Alguna vez has estado afligido y alguien te dijo que probablemente hiciste algo para merecerlo?  El amigo de Job, Elifaz, hizo exactamente eso cuando Job estaba sufriendo.  Usando el argumento de que ningún hombre es tan bueno que no se merece lo malo que les sucede.  Eso no ayudó a Job, en cambio, acumularon juicios sobre su amigo.  Nada de lo que se dijo acerca de Dios era técnicamente incorrecto, pero la aplicación es donde se extraviaron.  En repetidas ocasiones ignoraron las súplicas de Job de que no hizo nada malo y descontaron su relación con Dios.  Al final del libro, el Señor reprende a los tres amigos de Job y lo paga dos veces.  No seas el Elifaz en la habitación cuando alguien está sufriendo o sufriendo.  Preste su oído, su tiempo o sus oraciones, pero no juzgue o aconseje injustificadamente.  - Comentario de: Chelsea Henry

Today's Verse:

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. - James 3:17

When someone is suffering, it’s common to want to try to comfort that person with phrases like, “this too shall pass” or “it was for the best.” Have you ever been grieving and had someone tell you that You probably did something to deserve it? Job’s friend Eliphaz did just that when Job was suffering. Using the argument that no man is so good that they don’t deserve the bad that happens to them. That did not help Job, instead, they heaped judgments on their friend. Nothing of what was said about God was technically wrong, but the application is where they went astray. They repeatedly ignored Job’s pleas that he did nothing wrong and discounted his relationship with God. At the end of the book, the Lord rebukes Job’s three friends and repays Job twice over. Don’t be the Eliphaz in the room when someone is suffering or grieving. Lend your ear, your time, or your prayers, but not judgment or unwarranted advice. - Commentary by: Chelsea Henry

Today's Verse:

So we rebuilt the wall, and all the wall was joined together to half its height; for the people had a mind to work. - Nehemiah 4:6

Here is a little history; the Babylonian empire defeated Israel and dispersed the Israelites throughout the empire. Jerusalem was sacked, the walls were destroyed. Then the Persians overtook the Babylonians. This is where Nehemiah comes in. He learned of the condition of Jerusalem and was overcome with grief. He got the Persian king to let him go to Jerusalem to rebuild the wall, but he faced opposition. However, Nehemiah had God on his side. He told the remnant in Jerusalem why he was there and they got to work. Rulers, perfume makers, goldsmiths, and merchants were just some of the people who contributed to rebuilding the wall. God didn’t find the best craftsmen, He used the people who were available. They were motivated to work because they had something great to work toward. This is a beautiful picture of the church. When we have a goal to get something done, we can do it together. We don’t need to be the best at anything, but if we give our best God can use it to do amazing things that we never would have thought possible. - Commentary by: Stephen Proctor

Lord, thank You for the Church and for the community. Help us to open our minds to the vastness of Your capacity. Help us to not feel limited by who we are, what we know, or what we can do, but to see that every good thing can be done through You. Amen.

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28

I am a perfectionist. I want things to turn out the way that I planned and prepared for them. Sometimes though, things don't turn out the way we plan. Sometimes, things go exactly the opposite of what we planned. We must always remember God has a plan for our life. We can choose to follow that plan or disregard it and go our own way. The good news though is, even if you've gone 1,000 miles in the wrong direction, God can still use you and turn it all around. Jonah physically ran from God, ignoring his plan and setting off into the sea, ending up the undigested visitor in the stomach of a giant fish for 3 days. So examine your life, look back and see the detours, the wrong turns, the mistakes, and seeming catastrophes. Can you see the good that ultimately came from them? If not, perhaps the good that God is growing just hasn't flowered yet, but it will. Our God is faithful. He didn't forget Jonah in the belly of a fish in the depths of the sea, and he won't forget you. - Commentary by: Chelsea Henry.

Lord, help me to trust in Your master plan even when mine seems to be going the wrong way. I know that You can take all things in my life and use every one of them for good. Help me to follow Your plan and do Your will. I trust You. Amen!

"Let’s Be Honest,"/"Seamos honestos,":

 ¿Quién nos separará del amor de Cristo?  ¿Habrá dificultades, angustia, persecución, hambre, desnudez, peligro o espada?  - Romanos 8:28

 ¡Nada puede separarme del amor de Cristo!  ¡Él es mi vida, felicidad y alegría!  Sí, esa sería mi respuesta inmediata.  ¿Cómo podría dejar que algo me separe de Él?  Suena bien, ¿no?  Seamos realistas, a veces permitimos que cosas aún menos graves que el hambre, la persecución o el peligro nos separen de Su amor y Su Palabra.  Incluso pequeños problemas a veces pueden estresarnos y gritamos a Dios, ¿por qué, oh por qué?  Debemos admitir que a veces somos nuestra fe débil, y eso es parte del ser humano.  Sin embargo, no necesitamos desesperarnos.  Solo recuerde que los primeros cristianos tuvieron que soportar persecuciones, fueron amenazados por la muerte y, sin embargo, no soltaron a Cristo.  Es comprensible que a veces nos quejemos, tengamos lástima de nosotros mismos y nos lamentemos por nuestro destino, pero nunca debemos separarnos de Él.  Aférrate a Él con fuerza y ​​no lo sueltes.  Seguramente no te dejará ir.  Él te ama con un amor eterno.  - Comentario de: Irina Radosavljevic

Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? - Romans 8:28

Nothing can separate me from the love of Christ! He is my life, happiness, and joy! Yes, that would be my immediate answer. How could I let anything separate me from Him? Sounds nice, doesn't it? Let’s face it sometimes we allow even less severe things than famine, persecution, or peril to separate us from His love and His Word. Even little troubles can at times stress us out and we shout to God, why, oh why? We must admit we are sometimes our faith is weak, and that is part of being human. However, we need not despair. Just remember that the first Christians had to endure persecutions, were threatened by death, and yet they would not let go of Christ. It’s understandable that at times we complain, pity ourselves and lament over our fate, but we must never separate from Him. Hold on to Him tightly and do not let go.
