 La pérdida de un ser querido puede ser tan devastadora a veces que uno se pregunta si alguna vez podrá salir de todo el dolor.  Lo más probable es que te sientas muy solo.  Las personas que no han sufrido una gran pérdida no conocen la desesperación desgarradora que está atravesando.  Es como estar en un pozo oscuro y no ves ninguna luz en absoluto.  Lo más probable es que pienses que siempre será así.  Puede parecer que todos a tu alrededor están viviendo su vida y todo lo que estás haciendo es existir.  Lo que pasa con el dolor es que es necesario.  ¿Conoces esa gran montaña que está frente a ti que representa el dolor?  Lo más probable es que desees poder saltar sobre él de alguna manera y acabar con todo el dolor del corazón.  Desafortunadamente, el dolor no funciona así.  Necesitas escalar lentamente la montaña con la seguridad de que llegarás a la cima y luego descender por el otro lado.  Sé esto porque Dios siempre está con nosotros.  Él te traerá consuelo y esperanza.  Él subirá esa montaña de dolor justo a tu lado y te verá con seguridad al otro lado.  Siempre trate de recordar que el dolor es temporal;  El Señor es para siempre.  Todo lo que necesitas hacer es llamarlo y Él te tomará de la mano todo el camino.  - Comentario de: Anna Pachaud

"Good Grief,"

Today's Verse:

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:(1) a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance. - Psalm 3:1, 3:4

The loss of a loved one can be so devastating at times that you wonder if you are ever going to be able to come out from under all the grief. Chances are you’re feeling very alone. People who haven’t suffered a great loss don’t know the gut-wrenching despair you’re going through. It’s like being in a dark pit and you don’t see any light at all. Most likely you are thinking it is always going to be like this. It may seem like everyone around you is living their life and all you’re doing is existing. The thing about grief is, it is necessary. You know that big mountain that is in front of you that represents grief? You more than likely wish you could somehow jump over it, and be done with all the heartache. Unfortunately, grief doesn’t work like that. You need to slowly climb the mountain with the assurance that you will reach the summit, and then climb down the other side. I know this because God is always with us. He will bring you comfort and hope. He will climb that mountain of grief right alongside you, and safely see you to the other side. Always try to remember that grief is temporary; the Lord is forever. All you need to do is call on Him and He will hold your hand the whole way. - Commentary by: Anna Pachaud

Lord Jesus, You are such a blessing to us. We pray for all the hurting people that are entrenched in grief and despair. Please carry them through the loneliness and hurting to the other side of living. Amen.

Tener éxito en el sentido mundano es una cosa difícil de alcanzar que nos hace esforzarnos continuamente para obtener más.  Se cree que las personas exitosas son ricas y famosas jet-setters.  Se nos considera perezosos si no trabajamos horas extra, tenemos un buen auto, compramos marcas, comemos afuera varias veces por semana y pasamos a nuestros hijos a realizar múltiples actividades durante todo el año.  Paul le está diciendo a la gente de Philippi y a nosotros que ser cristiano significa estar contento con lo que tienes y con tu situación en la vida.  Aceptar el regalo de la salvación es lo que Dios considera exitoso.  Amar a Dios y amar a los demás trae felicidad que desafía la ganancia material e incluso anula el dolor y el sufrimiento.  Dios quiere que estemos contentos con las vidas con las que nos ha bendecido, y si no lo estás, invita a Dios más profundamente a tu vida y encontrarás consuelo en Él.  - Comentario de: Colleen Mallette

"Contentment Matters,"

Not that I say this because of need, for I have learned, in whatever situation I find myself, to be self-sufficient. - Philippians 4:11
Being successful in the worldly sense is an elusive thing that causes us to continually strive to obtain more. Successful people are thought to be rich, famous jet-setters. We are considered lazy if we don’t work extra hours, have a nice car, shop for brand names, eat out several times per week and run our kids around to multiple activities all year round. Paul is telling the people of Philippi and us, that being a Christian means being content with what you have and where you are in life. Accepting the gift of salvation is what God considers being successful. Loving God and loving others brings happiness that defies material gain and even overrides pain and suffering. God wants us to be content with the lives He has blessed us with, and if you aren’t then invite God more deeply into your life and you will find comfort in Him. - Commentary by: Colleen Mallette

Dear Lord, You have blessed me with an incredible life and I know I should be grateful for it all. Help me to stop striving to have a perfect life by worldly standards but instead be filled with joy through loving You and those around me. Amen.

 Hace solo dos días, cuando estaba a menos de tres metros de distancia, un automóvil se metió en mi motocicleta.  Pensé que el auto se detendría, pero se estrelló contra mi motocicleta justo ante mis propios ojos.  Me sorprendió lo que acabo de presenciar.  Lentamente sentí enojo, pero el conductor del auto se me acercó y ella se disculpó suavemente mientras su voz temblaba notablemente.  A partir de entonces no hubo hostilidad entre nosotros.  Me di cuenta de que ella también estaba conmocionada como yo por el incidente.  Luego procedió a ofrecer pagar todos los daños incurridos.  Cuando llegué a casa, me di cuenta de que si su actitud o enfoque fuera diferente, definitivamente no hubiéramos tenido una conversación amistosa o hubiéramos tenido un acuerdo pacífico.  De hecho, una respuesta suave rechazó la ira y trajo la paz.  Este proverbio tiene más de tres mil años y todavía se aplica hoy.  A veces no hay palabras o acciones para deshacer el daño o el daño que hemos hecho a otros, pero podemos disculparnos sinceramente y admitir nuestro error.  Si haces esto de una manera sincera, humilde y gentil, rechazarás la ira y recibirás perdón.  - Comentario de;  Mark Natividad

"Walk Softly,"

Today's Verse:

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. - Proverbs 15:1

Just two days ago, when I was about less than three meters away from it, a car drove into my motorcycle. I thought the car would halt but it crashed into my motorcycle right before my very eyes. I was shocked by what I just witnessed. I slowly felt anger setting in but the driver of the car approached me and she softly apologized while her voice was noticeably trembling. From then on there was no hostility between us. I could tell that she was also shaken just as I was because of the incident. She then proceeded to offer to pay for all the damages incurred. When I got home, I realized that if her attitude or approach was different, we definitely would not have had an amicable conversation or ended up having a peaceful agreement. Indeed, a soft answer turned away wrath and brought peace. This proverb is more than three thousand years old and still applies today. Sometimes there are no words or actions to undo the harm or damage we have done to others but we can sincerely apologize to them and admit our mistake. If you do this in a sincere, humble, and gentle manner, you will turn away wrath and receive forgiveness. - Commentary by; Mark Natividad

Our Heavenly Father, please help us to be patient and humble especially in times when we are at fault or angry. Lord, tame our tongues so we can offer a soft answer during times of distress. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

 Hace poco vi un letrero en una tienda que me encanta.  El letrero estaba hecho de madera y tenía una gran taza de café humeante.  Y la palabra café se usó como acrónimo, C.O.F.F.E.E.  Debajo del letrero decía: "Cristo ofrece perdón para todos en todas partes".  La gran taza de café humeante me atrajo hacia el letrero, pero las palabras debajo de ella me detuvieron.  No puedo contar las veces que le he pedido a Dios que me perdone.  Sin embargo, debo admitir que a veces me cuesta perdonar a los demás cuando me lastimo.  A veces solo quiero aferrarme a mi corazón herido, pero en el fondo sé que eso no está bien.  Necesitamos tener en cuenta las faltas de otras personas y perdonar a quienes nos han ofendido.  Dios nos perdona y, por lo tanto, quiere que perdonemos a los demás.  Él ama a todos Sus hijos por igual y quiere que nos amemos, perdonemos y nos llevemos bien.  No caigas en la falta de perdón y no te aferres a los sentimientos amargos.  El amor y el perdón son de lo que se trata.  - Comentario de: Anna Pachaud

"Coffee Anyone?,"

Today's Verse:

Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. - Colossians 3:13

I recently saw a sign at a store that I absolutely love. The sign was made of wood and it had a big steaming cup of coffee on it. And the word coffee was used as an acronym, C.O.F.F.E.E. Below the sign it said, “Christ Offers Forgiveness For Everyone Everywhere.” The big steaming mug of coffee drew me to the sign, but the words under it gave me pause. I can’t count the times that I have asked God to forgive me. Yet I have to admit I sometimes struggle with forgiving others when I have been hurt. Sometimes I just want to cling to my hurting heart but deep down I know that isn’t right. We need to make allowances for other people’s faults and forgive those who have offended us. God forgives us and therefore wants us to forgive others. He loves all of His children equally and wants us to love each other, forgive and get along. Don’t indulge in unforgiveness and don’t hang on to bitter feelings. Love and forgiveness are what it is all about. - Commentary by: Anna Pachaud

 Considero que no vale la pena comparar los sufrimientos de este tiempo presente con la gloria que se nos va a revelar.  - Romanos 8:18

 El apóstol Pablo en esta declaración nos da la idea de cómo lidiar con el sufrimiento.  Tenemos que compararlo con la gloria que está a punto de ser revelada.  Si lo animó, seguramente, también hará lo mismo por nosotros.  Todas nuestras heridas, cicatrices y dolores se curarán el día del regreso de nuestro Señor.  Por lo tanto, nos alienta no preocuparnos por estas cosas en este momento presente, sino que fijamos nuestros ojos en lo que está por venir.  Esto es lo que esperamos ansiosamente aquí en la tierra, que el autor y el consumador de nuestra fe pronto regresen.  No se desanime en vivir para Su gloria, porque cuando llegue el momento, recibirá la corona de gloria que Él prometió a los que aguanten hasta el final.  ¡Amplíe su visión, pase por alto el dolor y el sufrimiento, ya que es temporal y anímese mientras considera la gloria venidera!  - Comentario de Dionivie M. "Future Glory,"

Today's Verse:

I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us. - Romans 8:18

The apostle Paul in this statement gives us the idea of how to deal with suffering. We have to compare it with the glory that is about to be revealed to us. If it encouraged him, most assuredly, it will also do the same for us. All our wounds, scars, and pains will be healed on the day of our Lord’s return. Therefore, we are heartened not to mind these things in this present time, instead, we fix our eyes on what is about to come. This is what we eagerly await here on earth, that the author and the finisher of our faith would soon make his return. Do not be discouraged in living for His glory, for when the time is due, you will receive the crown of glory which He promised to those who endure until the end. Enlarge your vision, overlook the pain and suffering as it is temporary and be encouraged while you consider the coming glory! - Commentary by Dionivie M. Tacder

¿Alguna vez has escuchado la frase, "si tu vida es fácil y te va bien, probablemente no estés creciendo espiritualmente?" Lo he hecho, y definitivamente es cierto.  Si algo no me desafía, es probable que Satanás esté contento con el lugar donde estoy actualmente.  No quiere que crezca, quiere que esté estancado y espiritualmente seco.  Entonces, cuando estoy creciendo espiritualmente, cuando estoy siguiendo a Dios, y quiero hacer lo que es bueno, Satanás está allí.  Él está tratando de distraerme, desacreditarme, derribarme, empujarme fuera del camino, está tratando de evitar mi crecimiento espiritual.  Personalmente, esto parece miedo, y el siguiente paso es la ansiedad de que algo se caiga y la inseguridad de que no soy lo suficientemente bueno.  Cuando siento estas cosas, sé que estoy creciendo.  También sé que Dios conoce todo el miedo, la ansiedad y las inseguridades que tengo.  Él puede manejarlos a todos, así que le entrego esos sentimientos.  - Comentario de: Kristina Taylor

"With Good Comes Temptation,"

So, then, I discover the principle that when I want to do right, evil is at hand. - Romans 7: 21
Have you ever heard the phrase, ‘if your life is easy and going well, you’re probably not growing spiritually?’ I have, and it is definitely true. If something is not challenging me, it is likely that Satan is happy with where I am currently at. He does not want me to grow, he wants me to be stagnant and spiritually dry. So, when I am growing spiritually, when I am following God, and I want to do what is good, Satan is right there. He is trying to distract me, debunk me, knock me down, push me off the path, he is trying to prevent my spiritual growth. Personally, this looks like fear, and the next step is anxiety that something will fall through and insecurity that I am not good enough. When I feel these things, I know I am growing. I also know that God knows all the fear, anxiety, and insecurities that I have. He can handle all of them, so I surrender those feelings to Him. - Commentary by: Kristina Taylor

Lord, I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ who are growing in You. May they remember You are bigger than any negative feelings they may have. I pray for all those who are stagnant and dry in their faith right now. Please help them out of that and reignite the fire in their hearts. Amen.
