"¿Café a alguien?"

Verso de hoy:

 Tener paciencia y, si alguien tiene una queja contra otra, perdonarse mutuamente;  así como el Señor te ha perdonado, tú también debes perdonar.  - Colosenses 3:13

 Hace poco vi un letrero en una tienda que me encanta.  El letrero estaba hecho de madera y tenía una gran taza de café humeante.  Y la palabra café se usó como acrónimo, C.O.F.F.E.E.  Debajo del letrero decía: "Cristo ofrece perdón para todos en todas partes".  La gran taza de café humeante me atrajo hacia el letrero, pero las palabras debajo de ella me detuvieron.  No puedo contar las veces que le he pedido a Dios que me perdone.  Sin embargo, debo admitir que a veces me cuesta perdonar a los demás cuando me lastimo.  A veces solo quiero aferrarme a mi corazón herido, pero en el fondo sé que eso no está bien.  Necesitamos tener en cuenta las faltas de otras personas y perdonar a quienes nos han ofendido.  Dios nos perdona y, por lo tanto, quiere que perdonemos a los demás.  Él ama a todos Sus hijos por igual y quiere que nos amemos, perdonemos y nos llevemos bien.  No caigas en la falta de perdón y no te aferres a los sentimientos amargos.  El amor y el perdón son de lo que se trata.  - Comentario de: Anna Pachaud

"Coffee Anyone?,"

Today's Verse:

Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. - Colossians 3:13

I recently saw a sign at a store that I absolutely love. The sign was made of wood and it had a big steaming cup of coffee on it. And the word coffee was used as an acronym, C.O.F.F.E.E. Below the sign it said, “Christ Offers Forgiveness For Everyone Everywhere.” The big steaming mug of coffee drew me to the sign, but the words under it gave me pause. I can’t count the times that I have asked God to forgive me. Yet I have to admit I sometimes struggle with forgiving others when I have been hurt. Sometimes I just want to cling to my hurting heart but deep down I know that isn’t right. We need to make allowances for other people’s faults and forgive those who have offended us. God forgives us and therefore wants us to forgive others. He loves all of His children equally and wants us to love each other, forgive and get along. Don’t indulge in unforgiveness and don’t hang on to bitter feelings. Love and forgiveness are what it is all about. - Commentary by: Anna Pachaud

Dear Lord, I come to You today, asking that each and every person will seek forgiveness for their sins, as well as offer forgiveness to those who have hurt them. Help us to let go of our hurt feelings towards others. Amen.

 Considero que no vale la pena comparar los sufrimientos de este tiempo presente con la gloria que se nos va a revelar.  - Romanos 8:18

 El apóstol Pablo en esta declaración nos da la idea de cómo lidiar con el sufrimiento.  Tenemos que compararlo con la gloria que está a punto de ser revelada.  Si lo animó, seguramente, también hará lo mismo por nosotros.  Todas nuestras heridas, cicatrices y dolores se curarán el día del regreso de nuestro Señor.  Por lo tanto, nos alienta no preocuparnos por estas cosas en este momento presente, sino que fijamos nuestros ojos en lo que está por venir.  Esto es lo que esperamos ansiosamente aquí en la tierra, que el autor y el consumador de nuestra fe pronto regresen.  No se desanime en vivir para Su gloria, porque cuando llegue el momento, recibirá la corona de gloria que Él prometió a los que aguanten hasta el final.  ¡Amplíe su visión, pase por alto el dolor y el sufrimiento, ya que es temporal y anímese mientras considera la gloria venidera!  - Comentario de Dionivie M. "Future Glory,"

Today's Verse:

I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us. - Romans 8:18

The apostle Paul in this statement gives us the idea of how to deal with suffering. We have to compare it with the glory that is about to be revealed to us. If it encouraged him, most assuredly, it will also do the same for us. All our wounds, scars, and pains will be healed on the day of our Lord’s return. Therefore, we are heartened not to mind these things in this present time, instead, we fix our eyes on what is about to come. This is what we eagerly await here on earth, that the author and the finisher of our faith would soon make his return. Do not be discouraged in living for His glory, for when the time is due, you will receive the crown of glory which He promised to those who endure until the end. Enlarge your vision, overlook the pain and suffering as it is temporary and be encouraged while you consider the coming glory! - Commentary by Dionivie M. Tacder

¿Alguna vez has escuchado la frase, "si tu vida es fácil y te va bien, probablemente no estés creciendo espiritualmente?" Lo he hecho, y definitivamente es cierto.  Si algo no me desafía, es probable que Satanás esté contento con el lugar donde estoy actualmente.  No quiere que crezca, quiere que esté estancado y espiritualmente seco.  Entonces, cuando estoy creciendo espiritualmente, cuando estoy siguiendo a Dios, y quiero hacer lo que es bueno, Satanás está allí.  Él está tratando de distraerme, desacreditarme, derribarme, empujarme fuera del camino, está tratando de evitar mi crecimiento espiritual.  Personalmente, esto parece miedo, y el siguiente paso es la ansiedad de que algo se caiga y la inseguridad de que no soy lo suficientemente bueno.  Cuando siento estas cosas, sé que estoy creciendo.  También sé que Dios conoce todo el miedo, la ansiedad y las inseguridades que tengo.  Él puede manejarlos a todos, así que le entrego esos sentimientos.  - Comentario de: Kristina Taylor

"With Good Comes Temptation,"
Today's Verse:
So, then, I discover the principle that when I want to do right, evil is at hand. - Romans 7: 21
Have you ever heard the phrase, ‘if your life is easy and going well, you’re probably not growing spiritually?’ I have, and it is definitely true. If something is not challenging me, it is likely that Satan is happy with where I am currently at. He does not want me to grow, he wants me to be stagnant and spiritually dry. So, when I am growing spiritually, when I am following God, and I want to do what is good, Satan is right there. He is trying to distract me, debunk me, knock me down, push me off the path, he is trying to prevent my spiritual growth. Personally, this looks like fear, and the next step is anxiety that something will fall through and insecurity that I am not good enough. When I feel these things, I know I am growing. I also know that God knows all the fear, anxiety, and insecurities that I have. He can handle all of them, so I surrender those feelings to Him. - Commentary by: Kristina Taylor

Lord, I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ who are growing in You. May they remember You are bigger than any negative feelings they may have. I pray for all those who are stagnant and dry in their faith right now. Please help them out of that and reignite the fire in their hearts. Amen.

"Llamado a ser santo"

 Porque Dios no nos llamó a la impureza sino a la santidad.  - 1 Tesalonicenses 4: 7

 Ser santo no solo significa apartarse para Dios.  También significa evitar ofenderte a ti mismo, a otras personas y especialmente a Dios.  Pablo les recordó que evitaran la inmoralidad sexual como el medio de santificarse para Dios.  La inmoralidad sexual en cualquier forma y práctica es una ofensa para uno mismo y para Dios.  La inmodestia y la pornografía son dos de las formas más comunes y dañinas de impureza e inmoralidad con las que nos bombardean en la sociedad actual.  La impureza de cualquier tipo es dañina y viola la voluntad de Dios.  No se equivoquen al respecto, nosotros los cristianos debemos evitar estos pecados particulares.  Desafortunadamente, el pecado sexual puede ser muy atractivo para la carne debido al placer que ofrece, se contamina a sí mismo y a la otra persona involucrada tanto espiritual como físicamente.  La verdadera satisfacción solo proviene de Dios y no de ningún placer pecaminoso.  Pablo también les enseña a no explotar ni aprovecharse de los demás.  Esa es una ofensa cometida contra otros, y al Señor no le gusta.  Dios nos llama a ser santos, y con eso, significa que debemos evitar ofender a Dios, a los demás y a nosotros mismos.  Rechazar esto es rechazar la autoridad de Dios según Pablo porque como cristianos, Dios envía el Espíritu Santo en nosotros, para guiarnos y guiarnos.  Entonces la santidad y la pureza no son una opción, es un llamado de Dios.  - Comentario de: Jeremy B. "Called to Be Holy,"

Today's Verse:

For God did not call us to impurity but to holiness. - 1 Thessalonians 4:7

To be holy does not only mean to set yourself apart for God. It also means to avoid offending against yourself, other people, and especially God. Paul reminded them to avoid sexual immorality as the means of sanctifying one’s self for God. Sexual immorality in any form and practice is an offense to one's self and to God. Immodesty and por*ography are two of the most common and damaging forms of impurity and immorality we are bombarded with in society today. Impurity of any kind is harmful and violates the will of God. Make no mistake about it we Christians are to avoid these particular sins. Unfortunately, sexual sin can be very appealing to the flesh because of the pleasure it offers, it defiles one's self and the other person involved both spiritually and physically. Real satisfaction only comes from God and not from any sinful pleasure. Paul also teaches them not to exploit or take advantage of others. That is an offense done against others, and the Lord does not like it. God calls us to be holy, and by that, it means that we should avoid offending God, others, and ourselves. Rejecting this is rejecting the authority of God according to Paul because as Christians, God sends the Holy Spirit in us, to lead and guide us. So holiness and purity is not an option, it’s a call from God. - Commentary By: Jeremy B. Trio

Lord forgive me for my sins. I now realize that every sin I commit is an offense to You, to others, and to myself. Help me to live my life in a pure and moral way, and according to Your call which is to be Holy. Amen.

Mi padrino creció jugando y apostando en juegos de cartas.  Cuando lo vi jugar una vez, me dijo: "enséñale a tu enemigo a jugar y él destruirá su vida".  Esto fue para advertirme que me mantuviera alejado del juego.  Por la gracia de Dios, nunca tuve la tentación de jugar.  Ni siquiera me gusta la lotería porque conozco a muchas personas que están enganchadas de manera poco saludable.  Pensé que si solo hubieran ahorrado su dinero en lugar de hacer apuestas, ya habrían ahorrado una gran suma.  No es de extrañar que George Washington dijera: "el juego es el hijo de la avaricia, el hermano de la iniquidad y el padre de la travesura".  La Santa Biblia nos advierte que aquellos que caminan en el camino que no es bueno, siguiendo sus propios dispositivos y, "preparan una mesa para la fortuna", eventualmente tendrán hambre, sed y serán avergonzados (versículo 13).  En lugar de perder el tiempo, el esfuerzo y los recursos en el juego y dejar nuestra vida al azar, pongamos nuestra confianza completa en el Señor, que satisface todas nuestras necesidades y nos ama sin falta.  Poner nuestra fe en la suerte o en el azar es gravemente incorrecto y una ofensa contra Él.  - Comentario de: Mark Natividad

"Gambling Fortune,"
Today's Verse:
But you who forsake the Lord, who forget my holy mountain, who set a table for Fortune and fill cups of mixed wine for Destiny. - Isaiah 65:11
My godfather grew up playing and betting on card games. When I saw him play once, he told me, “teach your enemy how to gamble and he will destroy his life.” This was to warn me to stay away from gambling. By God’s grace, I was never tempted to gamble. I don’t even like the lottery because I know a lot of people who are unhealthily hooked on it. I thought if only they had saved their money instead of waging bets, they would already have saved a huge sum. No wonder George Washington said, “gambling is the child of avarice, the brother of iniquity, and the father of mischief.” The Holy Bible warns us that those who walk in the way that is not good, following their own devices and, “set a table for Fortune”, eventually they will go hungry, thirsty, and be put to shame (verse 13). Instead of wasting time, effort, and resources on gambling and leaving our life to chance, let us place our complete trust in the Lord who provides for our every need and loves us without fail. To put our faith in luck or chance is seriously wrong and an offense against Him. - Commentary by: Mark Natividad

Our Heavenly Father, forgive us if we have wasted our time, efforts, and resources on gambling. Lord, please help and deliver people who are addicted to gambling and give them a fresh chance at life. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

 Dé la bienvenida a aquellos que son débiles en la fe, pero no con el propósito de discutir sobre las opiniones.  - Romanos 14: 1

 ¿Has evaluado honestamente tu fe en el Señor?  ¿Es fuerte o débil?  ¿Lo has comparado con otros?  En el poema de Desiderata dice: "si te comparas con los demás, puedes volverte vanidoso o amargado, porque siempre habrá personas mayores y menores que tú".  Cuando se trata de fe, estas declaraciones son absolutamente ciertas.  Cuando tenemos una fe mayor o más fuerte que los demás, el apóstol Pablo nos instruye a no juzgar ni menospreciar a los que tienen menos o más débiles, sino que debemos darles la bienvenida.  La fe es la seguridad de lo que se espera, la convicción de lo que no se ve (Hebreos 11).  Experiencias personales como fracasos, dificultades y éxito nos enseñan a ser pacientes y esperar el momento perfecto del Señor.  Muchos no tienen ese tipo de paciencia y seguirán adelante en las cosas apresuradas y eso no siempre dará los mejores resultados.  Si conoce a alguien que está haciendo eso en este momento, haga todo lo posible para ayudarlo.  Si se niegan, no los condene, sino que ore por ellos.  A veces hacemos todo lo que está a nuestro alcance para ayudar a otros, pero no será suficiente;  todo lo que podemos hacer es elevarlos a Dios y Él hará el resto.  - Comentario de: Mark Natividad

"Weak in Faith,"

Today's Verse:

Welcome those who are weak in faith, but not for the purpose of quarrelling over opinions. - Romans 14:1

Have you honestly assessed your faith in the Lord? Is it strong or weak? Have you compared it with others? In the Desiderata poem it says, “if you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.” When it comes to faith, these statements hold to be absolutely true. When we have greater or stronger faith than others, apostle Paul instructs us not to pass judgment or look down upon those who have lesser or weaker but instead we are to welcome them. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11). Personal experiences like failures, hardships, and success teach us to be patient and wait for the Lord’s perfect timing. Many do not have that kind of patience and will go ahead in rushing things and that will not always yield the best results. If you know of someone who is doing that right now, do your best to help them. If they refuse, do not condemn but rather pray for them. Sometimes we do everything in our power to help others but it will not be enough; all we can do then is raise them to God and He will do the rest. - Commentary by: Mark Natividad
